Arakshi SS: Mere Humsfar

Part 17:

Saakshi got up early next morning quickly finishing her morning chores, started preparing breakfast as she had to leave for her son's barsi. By the time Arjun freshened up and walked to living room, he could not only see his tea ready but also the morning breakfast. He could see her cleaning up the kitchen. One thing he had come to understand about her in this short but happy stay in her place was that she was cleanliness freak and could not tolerate any untidiness. He also felt a bit odd today seeing her as she was wearing a plain white chiffon saree with no makeup. The breath of fresh air, happiness and ever radiant smile were all missing. She looked gloomier and unhappy. Even though any normal person could see nothing abnormal, he was able to read between the lines.

He couldn't comprehend the real reason for this but could understand that this day had some relationship with her past probably with the photo frame that she was holding and crying yesterday. The urge to know more about her and provide her some sought of comfort grew stronger day by day. He still couldn't understand reason behind this. Those also made him realize that his stay here was coming to an end. Tomorrow he will be rejoining ETF and be back at the lodge with no one to take care of him. He had now got used to Saakshi's care, Shree's naughtiness and would miss them both terribly. He somehow wished to add to the already existing happy and wonderful moments which he would cherish for life.

He had by then seated himself in the dining table. Saakshi came out of the kitchen and poured the hot steaming tea from the kettle to the cup and served it to him with news paper. He came out of the thoughts and took it from her mouthing a quick thank you. Her mobile started ringing suddenly and she took and walked away.

Saakshi (On the Call): Mein aadhe gante mein wahan pahoonch jaavoongi. Aap saari cheezoon ko tayaar rakhiye. Mujhe koyi bhi tarak ki kami nahi chahiye.

She provided some more instructions to the person at the other end and cut the call. She slowly walked up to him.

Arjun: Saakshi koyi problem hai kya? Agar hain tho baatavo. I will help you out.

Saakshi: Aisa kuch nahi hain.

Arjun:Agar batana nahi chahthi ho tho teek hain. Kam se kam jooth tho mat bolo. Tume jooth bolana nahi aatha.

Saakshi: Arjun agar mujhe kissi bhi din mere pareshaani kissi se share karne ki zaroraat lagi tho tum woh pehla insaan hoge jisse mein share karoongi. Kyunki mera dard aur taqleek koyi samajh saktha hain woh sirf tum. Par aaj nahi.

Arjun: Teek hain Saakshi mein tume force nahi karoonga. Just tell me whenever you need anything from me.

Saakshi: Arjun mujhe tumse kuch kahna hai infact ek help chahiye.

Arjun: Help? Batavoo Saakshi kya baat hai?

Saakshi:Mujhe aab bahaar jaana hain. Aate aate dher ho jaayegi. Meine breakfast mein aloo ke parathe bana liya hain. Tum kaa lena aur please shree ko bhi kila dena. Tum kya yeh kar saakthe ho?

Arjun: Itni si baat ke liye itna formal hone ki kya zarorat hain. Mein kar loonga. Par agar tumhari beti jis tarah baag daur karake doodh peeti hain agar waise hi subah breakfast karthi hain tho mera do teen din ka exercise ho jaayega. Sahi kah raha hoon na?

Saakshi: Mein yeh tho nahi kahoongi ki woh pareshaan nahi karthi. Par haan utni bhi nahi karthi. Please aaj ka din mera help kardo.

Arjun: Fikar mat karo mein sab sambal loonga.

Saakshi: Thanks a lot.

She left the house with a faith that Arjun would take care of her shree till she returns back. She reached the temple in another 15 minutes and started the special pooja that she had organized for her son. She like the past years prayed the almighty to let her son's soul rest in peace. Had everything been normal she would have with him praying for his happiness. Even now after all these she was unable to come in terms with the truth. She had seen her Prem die before her eyes and was unable to save him. Adding to it her husband had blamed her for Prem's death and divorced her. Every single happiness of her had died with him. All she could do now was to pray for his soul to rest in peace and plead the almighty that no other person ever goes through what she had gone through. The pooja soon ended and she headed to the nearby orphanage. It had been her regular custom for the past years that she would give food and dresses to those little kids in the orphanage. It gave her peace and calmness. She also felt that her Prem would be happy seeing her doing this.
