Thanks Dear 😊 ... well... this is the truth of our so called society ... about Ashima story, well I have actually seen cases where parents themselves force their daughters to suffer in silence and don't come forward to help them get out of the trouble and when she commits suicide or is killed by her in-laws, they cry foul. I believe such parents should also be held equally responsible for the death of their daughter. They could have saved her but they didn't choose to 😡

Well... cases to sirf 2 likhe hain maine ... rest of the story is about the personal lives of the characters ... no idea if I will add more cases 😳

Part 10 A --------------------------------------

Sunday

Arjun was sad about Sunaina's feelings but he was at least relieved that she didn't have a problem directly with him. He wanted to talk to her. He wanted to help her come out of this insecurity.

As planned, Aisha, Sameer and Daadu were invited to SKR's place. Arjun reached a little earlier. Anjali was still sleeping and SKR was busy reading newspaper.

He saw Sunaina checking for the preparations in the kitchen.

Sunaina was pondering over her conversation with SKR last night. She was shaken to the core. Her past life flashed in front of her eyes. The discrimination she faced being a girl child still haunted her. And now she realised that she was doing the same to her daughter Anjali. She remembered the past incidents.

When Sunaina entered Rawte household as SKR's wife, she was not surprised to see Arjun's behaviour towards her but it did hurt her somewhere. He was not happy to see another woman in his father's life. She ignored it for the time being and thought of giving him some more time. And she saw some changes in him in next few months and was happy. That is when she got the good news that she was pregnant.

SKR was happy and Arjun too responded positively to the news of arrival of another child in the family.

She was very happy. Mr SKR held a big function of her Baby shower. That is when everything shattered.

A distant relative poisoned her mind while blessing her "Achchhi baat hai Sunaina ki tum bhi Maa ban-ne wali ho ... par rahogi to tum Suryakant ki zindagi mein dusri aurat hi ... tum Arjun ki Maa ka ki jagah to shayad hi kabhi le pao ... wo is ghar ka beta hai ... Rawte pariwar ka chirag... uttaradhikari ... par agar tum sach mein sahi maayne mein is ghar mein apni jagah banana chahti ho... to zaruri hai ki tum bhi bete ko hi janm do ... agar tumne ek beti ko janm diya... to tum wo adhikar, wo izzat kabhi nahi hasil kar paogi jo Arjun ki maa ko milti thi"

This was enough to trigger the negativity in her. She became jealous of Arjun even though he had accepted her as a part of family and respected her.

And this grudge kept on growing as Anjali was born. She could see SKR and Arjun were very happy to have Anjali but she was upset with it. She always thought that Arjun is happy because Sunaina bore a girl child who would not be his competitor. If she had bore a male child, Arjun would have never accepted him.

Few years later she asked SKR if they can have another child, but SKR refused saying that he was happy with Arjun and Anjali and he didn't want a third child. She was frustrated as she couldn't share her real feelings to him and this frustration kept on growing over the years till SKR opened her eyes last night.

Deep down her heart she knew what she thought was not right. SKR had made his will and had given equal shares to both Arjun and Anjali. And Arjun left the luxuries of their palatial house and huge business empire and joined police force. And if at all their was any question of inheritance, Arjun wouldn't think twice before giving all his share of business to Anjali. It was her ego that stopped her from accepting the truth.

But SKR was right. All this was actually making a negative impact on Anjali. And for Anjali's sake, for her family's sake she finally decided to make peace with herself.

She decided to talk to Arjun.

She saw Arjun walking in and she went to kitchen to make tea for him. She knew he liked piping hot Adrak-wali chai just like his father. She never took such efforts for him but today she felt guilty and wanted to change things.

Arjun entered the kitchen and was welcomed with the aroma of tea and Sunaina pouring it in two cups. It was a pleasant surprise for him.

Sunaina looked at Arjun.

Arjun: Wo ... Mai ice-cream laaya hoon... sabke liye ... fridge mein rakhni hai ...

Sunaina smiled and nodded. Arjun was relieved. It was a positive sign for him. He kept the ice-cream in the fridge and turned to her. She was ready with the cup of tea for him. He took it with a smile.

She called out for a servant and ordered him to take tea for SKR and got busy
with boiling milk for Anjali.

Arjun: aapki kuch help kar doon?

Sunaina(a little surprised): tum? kitchen mein help karoge?

Arjun: haan ... ab itne saalon se yaha reh raha hoon ... thoda bahut kitchen ka kaam seekh hi gaya hoon...

Sunaina felt bad that he had to stay away from home because of her. Arjun sensed it.

Arjun: mera matlab hai ki ye to achchhi baat hai na ... ki mujhe bhi sare kaam aane lage hain ... wo kya hai na ... humari society mein bahut bias hai ... ye kaam ladko ka hai, ye kaam lakiyon ka hai ... par mai ye sab nahi maanta ... humari police force ki ladkiya humari tarah bahaduri se field mein kaam kar sakti hain ... to hum kitchen mein kaam kyun nahi kar saktey?

Sunaina couldnt help but smile back.

Sunaina: great!!! but dont worry ... maine saari taiyari dekh li hai ... aur maid ko sare instruction de diye hain ... haan agar meri help hikarna chahte ho... to ek kaam kar do ... Anjali ko uthao ... usko brush karwao... aur ye doodh pila do (handing him a glass of milk)... wo hi sabse bada kaam hai ...

Arjun chuckled.

Arjun happily accepted the task and went to Anjali's room.

After a lot of drama, she finally woke up after Arjun picked up and dragged her to bathroom and sprinkled water on her face. She frowned as Arjun handed her the tooth brush. She somehow brushed her teeth and Arjun again dragged her out. She again slumped in the bed and Arjun pulled her up thrusting the glass of milk in her hands.

She made a crying face but Arjun was not is a mood to listen to any of her tantrums. She somehow gulped the milk and again slumped on the bed.

That is when she heard the horn of a Sameer's car and opened her eyes wide.

Arjun: dekho... aa gaye Sameer Bhaiya, Aisha didi aur bade daadu ... aur tum aise hi baitho ... bina nahaye... bhoot jaise baal ...

Anjali(got up with the lightening speed to get her clothes): jaa rahi hoon ready hone ... lecture dena band karo ... samjhe ya... samjhaun?

She ran away grabbing her clothes and towel before Arjun could react to what she said and he burst into laughter and left to attend Sameer, Aisha and Daadu.

Sunaina and SKR already welcomed them and Sunaina took Daadu's blessings and apologised with an excuse for not making it to their place previous day.

Whole day was again fun. SKR and Daadu got busy with their tallks. Sunaina went to the kitchen. And Anjali made Sameer her target by asking him a lot of questions about Ashima and he happily answered them.

For Arjun, it was a little more special as Aisha had come to his place for the first time. It tickled him somewhere. He took a chance by showing it to her. They went to the terrace.

Aisha: Bahut pyara ghar hai ...

Arjun: haan ... papa ne investment k liye liya tha ... kaafi saal pehle ... hum sab Kolhapur mein hi rehte they...yaha settle hone ka koi plan nahi tha ... aur fir jab mai yaha shift hua, tab ye ghar mere posting wale police station aur ETF office se door tha ... to mai bhi yaha nahi rehta tha ... par ab business ki wajah se baba ka bhi yaha aana jaana badh gaya hai ... aur kafi dino tak baba ko yaha rehna padta

hai ... to ab thoda maintain kar ke rakha hai ...

Aisha smiled.

Aisha: ek baat poochhun? agar aapko bura na lage to?

Arjun: Poochho na ...

Aisha: aaj Sunaina ji kuch different lag rahi hain ... i mean its for good ... wo aaj bahut khush bhi lag rahi hain ...

Arjun(took a deep breath): u r right Aisha ... aur uski wajah hai ...

Arjun shared the last night's incident with her.

Arjun: wo dil ki buri nahi hain Aisha ...bas thodi insecure hain ... aur mai unki ye insecurity door karna chahta hoon...

Aisha: par kya wo tumhari baat samjhengi?

Arjun: i think so ... aaj subah unhone khud mere liye chai banayi ... Mujhe Anjali ko uthane bheja ... shayad wo bhi apne kadam agey badha rahi hain ... to mai peechhe nahi hatna chahta ... after all its about my family (he was a little worried)

Aisha: I hope sab theek ho jaye... (she placed her palm on Arjun hand that was resting on the railing)

Arjun turned to her and their eyes locked for a few seconds.

Arjun had found a new friend and confidante in Aisha. Even he didn't realise what made him open up to Aisha and share about personal life to her, but he felt happy talking to her. He felt a connect with Aisha. He knew he was attracted to her since he saw her for the first time when she shifted in the neighbouring apartment.

They are snapped out by Anjali's scream.

Anjali came running and screaming to call them for lunch. Aisha left with Anjali.

Arjun stood there for a while thinking about Aisha.

Lunch time was again fun with Anjali being scolded by Sunaina for her tantrums and others supporting Anjali except Arjun. Today Arjun sided with Sunaina.

Sameer, Aisha and Daadu left after lunch and SKR took his medicines and went to take his post lunch Sunday nap. Anjali got busy watching cartoons.

Arjun went to the terrace while thinking about how to talk to Sunaina when Sunaina herself approached him to talk.

Sunaina: Arjun !!! I m sorry

Arjun(surprised): Aayi aap sorry kyun bol rahi hai ...

Sunaina was in tears.

Sunaina: maine itne saal tumhare saath bahut bura bartav kiya ... tumhe apne hi ghar se door rehne k liye majboor kiya ...

Arjun: please Aayi ... aap aisa mat sochiye ... aap ne mujhe janm nahi diya hai ... par aap baba ki jeevansathi hain ... aur jab mai ghar se door tha tab aap hi unke saath thi ... mujhe aap poora vishwas raha hai ... aur usi k chalte aaj mai ghar ki parwah kiye bina ek kaabil police officer ban paya hoon...

Sunaina: ye tumhari achchhayi hai Arjun ... ki tum aisa sochte ho ... aur yakeen mano ... mujhe kabhi tumhari achchhayi par shak nahi raha hai ... par ...mai andar hi andar ek dard ko lekar jee rahi thi ... aur sabko dard de rahi thi ...

Arjun: mai janta hoon aayi ... ki aap khud bhi takleef mein hain ... aur mai bhi chahta hoon ki aapki aur hum sabki zindagi se ye dard chala jaaye ... aapke dil mein kya hai... wo aap mujhe bataiye ... please

Sunaina(takes a deep breath): Main tumse nafrat nahi karti thi Arjun ... mai janti thi tumhare liye mushkil hoga ek dusri aurat ko apni maa ki jagah par dekhna ... aur mujhe is baat se koi shikayat bhi nahi thi ... aur fir Anjali aaney ki khabar se tum naraaz nahi huye ... to mai secure bhi feel karne lagi thi ... par...(she took a pause)

Arjun: par kya?

Sunaina: God-bharayi wale din jab tumhare baba ki mausi ne jab ye kaha ki tum is ghar k waris ho aur mai tumhari maa ki barabari tabhi kar sakti hoon jab mai is ghar ko beta dungi, tab se mai insecure ho gayi thi ... aur Anjali k janm ke baad mai poori tarah se darr gayi thi ... aur yahi se saari takleefein shuru huyi ... meri bhi aur humare poore parivar ki bhi ...

Arjun(shocked): Aayi!! Aaji ne aisa kaha aapse? par mai aur baba to ...

Sunaina(cuts him short): janti hoon Arjun ... tum aur tumhare baba aisa nahi sochte ... par mai hi insecure ho gayi thi ... kyunki mai khud bhi aise hi mahaul mein pali badhi thi ... par ab mujhe ehsaas ho raha hai ki mai kitni galat thi ... kisi k behkave mein aakar ... mai apne hi ghar mein aag laga baithi ... aur sab kuch khatam kar liya... (tears flow from her eyes and she doesnt attempt to stop them)

Arjun(wipes her tears): aayi nahi!!! kuch khatam nahi hua hai ... aur mai ab aapko insecure nahi hone dunga ... mai baba se baat karunga ... mai unse kahunga ki apni Will mein wo sab kuch Anjali k naam kar dein ... wo hi unki uttaradhikari hogi ... aur mujhe us par poora yakeen hai ... wo aapke bete se kam nahi hai ... mai pani police ki naukri se khush hoon ...

Sunaina: Nahi Arjun... mai aisa kuch nahi chahti ... tum dono humare bachche ho ... aur tumhare papa ki har cheez par tum dono ka barabar ka haq hai ... tumne mujhe aayi k roop mein sweekar kiya hai... Anjali ko apni sagi behen mante ho ... kabhi sautelapan nahi dikhaya tumne ... to fir mai kun Sauteli maa ki tarah tumse tumhari khushuyan aur adhikar chhen loon? Aisi hi ek Sauteli maa ne apni santaan k sukh ki chah mein apne Ram jaise bete ko van-vaas mein bheja tha ... mai ye pehli galti kar chuki hoon tumhe ghar se door karke... aur uska nateeja mai bhugat rahi hoon ... usi ki tarah ek dusri sauteli maa ne Dev-vrat ko Bheeshm ban-ne par majboor kiya aur uska nateeja tha Mahabharat aur uske poore paraivar ka ant ... mai ye dusri galti nahi karna chahti ... mai ab apne parivar ko khush dekhna chahti hoon ... bas...

Arjun was touched by her words.

Sunaina(continued): Arjun ... kya tum apni police ki naukri chhod ke ... apne Baba ka business nahi join kar sakte?

Arjun: Aayi... mai apka dil nahi dukhana chahta ... par ab ye naukri hi mera sab kuch hai ... maine logo ki takleefein dekhi hain ... aur mai ek police officer ban ke hi unki madad kar sakta hoon ... aur mai ye karna chahta hoon...

Sunaina: mai samajhti hoon ... lekin ... kya tum apna transfer Kolhapur karwa sakte ho?

Arjun is confused.

Sunaina: mai bas itna hi chahti hoon... ki humara beta ghar wapas aa jaye

Arjun: mai koshish karunga aayi !!

They smile.

Both felt relieved after this conversation.

A week passed by.

Ashima kept improving.

Relationship between Arjun and Sunaina was on normal track and SKR and Anjali were surprised but happy with the change.

Saturday

Arjun and Aisha joined Sameer and Shree to their hospital visit. Sameer and Shree went to see the doctor.

Ashima was again in tears when she met Arjun.

Arjun came close to her and sat near her.

Ashima: tum ... sach ... kehte ... they ... Sameer ko ... dukh dekar ... mai kabhi ...khush nahi ... rahungi... (tears flow from her eyes)

Arjun felt bad . He hugs her and pats her head.

Arjun: Nahi Ashima!!! mere kehne ka matlab aisa kabhi nahi tha ... mai to

humesha se janta tha ki ... Sameer se zyada tumhe koi pyaar nahi kar sakta ... aur ye Sameer ka pyaar hi hai ... jisne tum dono ko wapas milaya hai ... so ab please purani baaton ko bhool jao ... aur jaldi se theek ho jao ... hum sab tumhara intezar kar rahe hain ...

Aisha and Ashima were meeting for the first time.

Aisha: Haan Ashima ... hum sabko tumhara intezar hai ...

Arjun and Ashima part the hug.

Ashima: tum ... Aisha .. ho na?

Aisha(smiles): haan... mai Aisha hoon... mai janti hoon hum aaj pehli baar mil rahe hain ... par aisa lagta hi nahi ... Sameer humesha tumhare bare mein baat karte rehte hain ... isliye lagta hai mai tumhe barso se janti hoon ...

Ashima: Haan... Sameer... tumhare ...bare ... mein... bhi... humesha... baat karta tha ...

Sameer and Shree join them and they chit chat for some more time and try to cheer up Ashima.

Few days later.

A specialist doctor checks Ashima and assures her that she will be fine very soon.

SKR, Sunaina and Anjali left for Kolhapur and Arjun promised Sunaina that he will visit them soon.

With peace in family life, Arjun was at ease now, but since Sameer was more occupied with cases and Ashima, it was Aisha who came closer to Arjun.

They spent more time together. Daadu and Sameer did notice all this but pretended to ignore and not embarrass them.

Both were attracted to each other and became close as friends but still hesitated to accept their feelings.

Dil mera hai nasamajh kitna
Besabar ye bewkoof bada
Chahta hai kitna tujhe
Khud magar nahi jaan sakaa

Arjun couldn't help but look at her from his cabin without a blink. He loved to watch each and every expression on her face. Whether she was immersed in a case file or chatting with Liza and Shree or just enjoying a coffee alone.

Is dard-e-dil ki sifarish
Ab kar de koi yahaan
Ki mill jaaye isey woh baarish
Jo bhigaa de poori tarah

Aisha too was at times lost in his thoughts. Their bonding was changed since their trip to Haryana. And she knew it was a little more than friendship but was sceptical . She had seen that affection in Arjun's eyes

but she was not sure if it was love.

Kya huaa asar tere saath reh kar naa jaane
Ki hosh mujhe naa raha
Lafz mere thhe zubaan pe aake ruke
Par ho na sake woh bayaan
Dhadkan tera hi naam jo le
Aankhein bhi paighaam ye de
Teri nazar ka hi ye asar hai

This was the only thing that Arjun couldnt discuss with anyone. Not even Sameer. He didnt know how he would react to this. But he knew he had to take a chance. But however hard he tried, there was something that stopped him from confessing his feelings to Aisha. Somewhere deep down his heart he knew Aisha too likes him but still he was scared to take that first little step.

Tu jo mila
Toh zindagi hai badli
Main poora naya ho gaya
Hai be-asar duniya ki baatein badi
Ab teri sunu main sadaa
Milne ko tujhse, bahaane karun
Tu muskuraaye, wajah main banun
Roz bitaana saath mein tere, saara din mera

But still he never left a chance to spend time with Aisha. Even in case investigations, he always teamed up with Aisha. He just loved to watch her genuine smile when she was with him. He was enjoying his new found happiness. Something he never experienced before

Is dard-e-dil ki sifarish
Ab kar de koi yahaan
Ki mill jaaye isey woh baarish
Jo bhigaa de poori tarah

Few months later.

Ashima was much better now. She had returned to the normal routine and she didn't' need sedatives anymore. There were just two problems with her now. First, since she was on sedatives for so long, some of a her actions and reactions were a bit slow. And second problem, she needed to be protected from any shock or trauma or else there was a chance that she might go into relapse.

Doctor discharged her from hospital with all the instructions to Sameer on how to take care of her.

They were very happy.

And finally the day came when Ashima was all set to leave the asylum but she didn't know that a bigger trouble was waiting for her.

As she stepped out holding Sameer's hand he was standing right out of the gate of hospital with a wicked smile on his face.

She stopped and tightened her grip on Sameer's hand. The fear was evident on her face. Sameer looked at her face and the man.

It was not difficult for him to guess it was her husband.
