Chapter 17

Karan is packing his bags. Hearing a knock, he looks up to see arjun standing at the entrance of the door. Arjun came inside and held out a gun saying "we will need it." karan took the gun and kept it in the bag. Arjun said "call riya and tell her we are coming by to pick her up. Be ready by 6:15." He turns to leave when karan said "shera, why are you taking her with us?"

Arj: why can't she come with us?

Kar: shera, you know that there is danger over there for her. inspite of that you are allowing her to come.

Arj: because I know her karan. If we leave her behind, she will catch the next bus to Bhopal and do something stupid which will definitely lead her to trouble. With us, at least we can keep an eye on her and ensure she does'nt take any unnecessary steps or dangerous ones. Ab samjhe ya samjhau?

Karan smirks and said "seems like shera knows the sherni pretty well." Arjun said in an irritated voice "shut up karan. And pack up." And he left karan packing his bags with a smirk still on his face.

They reached outside the building. Karan tries riya's cell but she was'nt picking up. Arjun said "come on lets go and see why riya is still not ready?" they rang the bell many times but no one was opening the door. Seeing at karan's worried expression, arjun nodded. Karan bent down to start picking up the lock when the door opened to show a sleepy anjali. She looks at arjun and said "mr arjun, what are you doing here?" suddenly, she wavers and arjun catches her. he made anjali sit on the sofa and said "anjali, what happened?". Rubbing her eyes, she said "nothing happened mr arjun."

Kar: then why are'nt you ready for school? Its already 6: 15.

Glancing at the time,anjali's eyes widen.

Anj: huh, I did'nt even hear the alarm ring. and mama also did'nt wake me up. Looking around she asked "where is mama and riya di?"

Arj: anjali, when did you start feeling sleepy?

Anj: yesterday, after drinking the milk. Usually, mama never forces me to drink immediately but yesterday she sat with me while I drank the milk. Her eyes widening, she asked "what, the milk was drugged?"

Arj: karan, stay with anjali.

He took out his gun and checked all the rooms. When he reached riya's room, he saw that it was locked. He said "anjali, get the keys for the room." anjali went and got the keys. She waited for arjun to open the door, but arjun said "no anjali go and sit in the hall."

Anj: but mr arjun...

Arj: anjali, I said go.

Sullenly, anjali went to sit in the hall. Karan sees arjun taking a steady breath preparing himself for the worst case scenario and sent a prayer to anyone who heard him to not be that case. Arjun nods his head and karan, opens the door and releases the breath he was holding to see riya on the bed. He immediately rushes to riya and said "riya, riya." He checkes her pulse and sees that it is normal. Karan is calling the doctor and simran to come immediately to anjali's place. Riya starts steering hearing him calling her name immediately. With difficulty, she opens her eyes and looking at arjun said in a low voice "arjun, I am fine." And loses consciousness immediately. Arjun makes her lie down carefully on the bed and sees that she has got no scratches, nothing which indicates that she has been hurt. He notices two letters on the table beside the bed. Seeing a letter addressed to him, he puts on his gloves and opens it carefully. Reading what the letter said, his face slowly turns into stone, his eyes become black as midnight and he looks at riya with revulsion in his expression. he then sees the letter addressed to riya and without giving any thought opens it. reading the letter, his face slowly softens to that of sadness and this time looks at riya with an expression akin to helplessness. Placing both the letters back into their envelopes, he kept it on the table and sat beside riya. Removing her hair from her face, he asked quietly "do we have a choice?"
