To be honest I was beginning to like her. Mrunal I mean.When she entered the show she was really a novice actor which further damaged the characterization but eight months in Arjun and a full length feature film later she had learnt to pitch her tent. Her scenes lately were well enacted and she had started to bring about the right amount of subtlety & grimness to them as is required for the tone of the show. And its totally a right career move to hop over to the movie industry now when people are beginning to be interested in her.
On the other side she was never ever interested to work in a crime show where the focus always remains on the male lead and the rest of the screen time shared by four other people who have already marked their place in the audience hearts and the main crime story. Add to her woes were the empty space left by the previous female lead with people still asking for her.She was arm twisted by a bound contract to work by the channel who were fed up with the constant clamour for the old lead to come back. Then the creatives were not keen on a romantic liaison at that point & even now.They were arm twisted again by the channel to accomodate her anyhow. That's when things started to go wrong.Creative people do not like to be threatened citing business numbers.The actor, the actress, the creators began to become as distant as possible from what was not on their agenda in the first place & the channel adamantly instructed them to include nevertheless.
And this skirmish unfortunately has been clearly evident in all the episodes ever since.If only people had been left alone to do what they do best.
The bombardment of websites relating to Arjun with demands for the old lead to come back when she was clearly shown dead, the constant demand of the romantic track to begin since it "was promised" at the beginning even after knowing that the abrupt quitting of the female lead put a spanner in the progress that aspect really sent the channel into a tizzy. Not one word of appreciation of the awesome stories coming our way week & week, nothing about the stellar star cast esp Shaleen.It was all about romance past, present & future...
Why blame the creatives when their focus was snatched away by negative & unreasonable demands...?
We must remember these were the same people who gave us Arjun & Shaleen in the first place before trashing them left, right & centre.
