Some Untold and Unseen moments of Arjun (Part 3)

(Continuing from first part, this time from Rathod's side)

After pressing the end button of his cell, Rathod stood outside the conference room for few minutes. Still he finds it difficult to understand. All he knows that his friend is not okay. So he decided to go and see Rawte personally... to talk to him, to spend an hour or two with him, if needed.
The team (Shree, Chottu, Ayesha and Sakshi) is capable enough to handle the situation initially, so there won't be any problem, Rathod thinks in his mine. Besides, he will reach the place with Rawte later on. Planning so, Rathod entered again (Everyone looked at him).

Shree: "Kya hua, Sir?"

Rathod: "Shree, tum sabko lekar iss address pe pohoch jao" (Saying so he handed his phone to Shree to collect the location). "Main Rawte ko lekar bass waha pohoch jayenge, jitni jaldi hosake."

Ayesha and Chottu exchanged an awkward look, but on their feet ready to go for solving another case. Meanwhile Shree returned Rathod his cell phone, when Sakshi inquired...

Sakshi: "Sameer, sab kuch thik hain na?!" (Sounding curious as usual)

Rathod: "Everything's fine Sakshi" (Tried to ignore her) "Tum sab bass waha jake dekho ki kya hua hain, Call me if needed (She looked at Ayesha when said it, She nod) I'll join you guys as soon as possible.

He picked his gun and keys, ready to leave.

Chottu: "Right, Sir."

So, they left the office. Four of them got in one SUV, and Rathod took the other.

On his way, Rathod starts thinking again, what might have happened to Rawte! He wishes to reach him soon, but got stuck in the traffic. In anger he barked: -

Rathod: "Damn it! This traffic..."

Just then a sports car came by and joined the last of the next row. There, Rathod saw three friends (One girls and two boys) laughing out loud and having fun with each other. Suddenly out of nowhere it came to his mind, the rush of memories is hitting him inside his head; he could sense all his pulse, his heart starts racing! He looked at his watch to confirm the date...
Yes! Yesm it is. Today is the day... "It's Roshni's Birthday" - He reminds himself. As for then the time stopped and stared ticking backwards. And all he could think of is - SAMEER - ROSHNI - ARJUN.

Four years back from now, she came to Mumbai from USA, and never left. That's when it all started.

Roshni was Rathod's childhood friend. Both their parents were family friends, so they grew up together. But Roshni's father was a different kind of a person. To him, ambition had a new meaning. As an industrialist he always tried to expand his business in abroad. And later on he decided to settle in USA. So after Roshni's college, they left India. Though Roshni never took an interest in her father's business, so after completing her study she came back to India.

But when she left India, Rathod was out of friends. He could hardly make good friends after Roshni. Later, he joined Indian Police Force, where he met Arjun. There, they became partners, then colleagues, and after sometimes really good friends. Rathod always found similarities between Roshni and Rawte, that's why they both became his best friends.

Just like Roshni, Arjun's father was an industrialist. He was very strict, which gave Arjun some bitter memories. Arjun's dream was to become a police officer, and he was passionate about it from his childhood. But his father considered this job as a shameful one. He wanted his son to join him in his business. But Arjun couldn't follow his father, rather he chased his dream and became a police officer. The day he wore his badge, he had to leave his family behind. After that he never spoke of his family. Even Rathod never asked him anything, instead he let Arjun became a part of his family. Arjun too enjoyed being around Rathod's family and they were more like brothers.

When Roshni came back to India, things have changed a lot by then. Rathod got busy as the chief of ETF (Emergency Task Force). Then, Roshni and Arjun met through him, and three of them became a tiny gang of friends!

Roshni decided to stay back in India, for which her father scolded her continually, and somehow she too got detached from her family. But of course, Rathod's family became her family too. And that way SAMEER - ROSHNI - ARJUN, became a family as well.

Not only had this, but very soon, Roshni and Arjun started to develop feelings for each other. The soon they realized that they were feeling connected, Rathod gave their relation a new name. It was only Rathod's family who supported these love birds and managed everything till the day they got married.

Remembering all these, Rathod smiled automatically. The cars are moving again. He checked the time on his watch and start driving fast to reach Rawte sooner. But these rush of memories started to flow and he could see all once again, as if things are getting real ... how time flew, how his two best friends started their new life, how everything were running smoothly ...until... (A pause to his thinking)

Another signal, again got stuck in traffic. This time he can sense his anger is building up inside. He started to look for another getaway. As he found one, he started to drive at that direction. [It's a desolated route. People rarely use this path. As it ends to the old station. The Govt. shut down the station down long ago, since then it remained as a blockage in the town. Though it connects to the highway. ] Rathod thought he will just take the highway to get to Rawtes' Residence which is nearest to the station. Also he will get some time for himself, out of the traffic, the noise, horns and chaos. So he drove to that direction, turned the AC off, roll down the window to enjoy the breeze.

He is feeling better now. As he is driving alone. One or two passersby he crossed. Small teas stall at a distance, he can see the lantern's light in the dark, and only his cars headlights are the only source of light to see the road ahead. So he stops concentrating on surroundings and driving on his own. Seeing nothing in front (except trees and snake like road) his memory lit up again in that wide spread darkness...

Rathod always call Arjun with his surname "Rawte". He knows Rawte very well, His nature, his personality... everything is very well known to him, also he understands Rawte better than others. (Though he doubts it sometimes, as he believes Roshni understood Rawte better than him). And all these years, he has seen how his friends (Roshni and Rawte) grew in a relationship, how their complete lives turned in to destruction, how it ruined everything in three of them, how their friendship filled with bitterness...How "SAM" became Rathod - for Rawte!

Rathod always blame Rawte for his temper. He still cannot forget what had happened. He blamed Rawte for Roshni's death (Roshni was murdered by a faceless criminal - Sikander, whom only Arjun believes to exist, but none knows anything of this man's whereabouts.) According to Rathod, because of Rawte, Roshni is not with them, today. He several times mentioned it in front of others that Rawte's anger killed Roshni, which shattered Arjun and he broke in to tears, once. But the bitterness is still there in these two men, where the friendship is long lost.

Today, when Rawte called Rathod as "SAM"; like old times, Rathod couldn't stop himself and felt the urge to meet his old friend who got lost in the crowd with some unsolved mysteries. Deep down inside, Rathod do know, after all, its not Rawte's fault, maybe it's the fate that took away Roshni from them. And if Rawte is to blame, then Rathod is guilty too... for He is the one who let these two met. If none of these to happen, then Rathod should never let Roshni met Arjun. But how could they ignore the fate. Suddenly he started to feel heavy in the heart. His eyes got teary. So he wiped his eyes on his sleeve.

He is trying to compose himself, trying to control the emotions. For there is still time for all these, he needs to get to Rawte, first. Finally he saw that it's the end of the road as he crossed the old station. It's really dark here. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even notice that he was being followed, all these times. Before he could get on to the highway...he realized he's got company!

One micro-bus just overtake his car and gets in front to block his way, when another one is getting closer from the back. And that very moment Rathod knew, something is just about to happen. The time is ticking back clockwise now, only on some unknown direction...
