Meanwhile outside the airport, Sam waited patiently for his little gem to arrive. He still hadn't been able to digest the fact that she had agreed upon coming back and finally joining the ETF this time around. "Sam, how long do I have to wait here? I'm getting extremely annoyed and frustrated by just standing here and waiting for Ms. Anonymous. Who does she think she is? As Sam inwardly smiled, hearing Arjun's impatient rants. He wonders on how such an immature and childish man, becomes a solid ACP who is driven by his passion and thirst for justice and equality. Yes, even though slightly foolish, he is a man with concrete and genuine principles, who had also experienced a few heartbreaks himself...
Oh God, ye Sam kahan ye aaye muhje?? I'd be sleeping at this time around. Wait! Is that her? Oh my God, she looks even more beautiful than before. I remember when she used to be chubby... Good times... But what is she doing here? And why is she waving to Sam? Is this the new crime reporter that is joining us? As soon as Arjun saw Sakshi coming out from the arrival gate, his mind began to ask a million questions, to which he had no answers.
Sakshi walked up to Sam and gave him a hug and also tried to give a genuine smile. Taking in consideration the childhood memories spent with her bhaiya, she guessed she oweded him at least a decent smile and not a gloomy hello.
Despite seeing her smile, Sam knew it was her feeble attempt to greet him "normally". But knowing her too well, he knew this too, was a half-hearted hello. The Sakshi he had seen grow up before him would have ran up to him, gave him a tight hug and wouldn't have stopped her bickering, goofy smiles and naughty remarks.
Before Sam could re-introduce these two animals to each other, Sakshi looked at the taller than average guy wearing a body-hugging black V-neck, ripped denims and was blessed with a perfect figure and chiseled features [to all the deewanis, this one for u 😉]
Just by looking at those mischievous and cheeky eyes, that could never hide what was in his heart, she had immediately recognised him. He was the only person, apart from her brothers, who used to know how to recognise and deal with her everyday natuanki . Used to. Arjun Suryakant Rawte. The boy, well now a stern and successful police-officer, always held even till today holds, a flirtatious and playful aura about him, but also knew when to not his limits.
20 years ago:
A girl of 5 years chases a boy of 6 around the garden, trying to dodge the chairs and table in the middle. Both being in their school uniform, the boy seemed to be teasing the girl who was getting tired because of running after the boy.
Seeing her brother with his friend standing nearby, she ran up to him and very coyly said, "Bhaiya, he stole my chocolate!! And he is not giving it to me!! I want my chocolate bhaiya, otherwise he will not live to see tomorrow morning." A very naive, adorable and slightly chubby Sakshi was on the verge of tears, as she explained to her brother what the devil did to her.
Before her brother could say or do anything to pacify his gem, the naughty boy yelled from behind, "arrey moti, if you eat more chocolate, then you will become so big that you won't even fit in a chair!!" With his lame joke, he started to laugh uncontrollably, but immediately stopped when he saw her tears.
Even at that age, he hated to see her tears. He had always been protective about her and was even willing to swallow his mischievousness, just so he could see her toothy and warm smile. He walked up to her and gave her not only her but also his own chocolate bar. But was equally surprised when she shyly offered him not only her bar, but other bars that were in her pocket as well...
Before she could break out of her trance, Arjun gave a charismatic smile and began to tease his childhood friend "what are you doing here meri jungle billi? Finally decided to bless us with your all knowing presence at ETF? Well how thought of you, Ms Anand."
Sam rolled his eyes at Arjun's behaviour and quickly began to ask the Almighty for strength to tolerate these two janwars. Knowing what was about to follow, he mentally prepared himself for a heated debate to follow. Little did he know, his Adu has changed far too much, to fall for Arjun's amateurish and provocative talks.
Knowing Arjun and his personality, Sakshi knew better than to lose her anger and bottled her urge to retort back. Instead she calmly spoke without any emotion, "I'm fine Arjun. Thanks a lot for asking. Before you begin with your bakwas, let me enlighten you with answers to your questions. Firstly, not jungli billi, but Sakshi. And yes, I'm joining ETF and not to grace anyone with my presence, but to do some actual work. Unlike you." She emphasised the last two words & being satisfied with her diplomatic answer, she turned to her bhaiya and asked to be dropped home.
Sam being too stunned with her clam and cold behaviour was extremely taken back at her demeanour. Before she would have punched, cursed and insulted Arjun in such a way, that he, THE Arjun Rawte, would not have been able to come up with a decent reply. Expecting too much from her, he bid good-bye to Arjun and followed Sakshi to his car.
Little did Sakshi know that her indifference to Arjun, had caused a big havoc inside him. How could she let go off an opportunity to tease or insult me? Kahin kuch choot raha hain! Why was she so diplomatic and cold towards me? I always thought child-hood friends are the one of the only types of relationships that actually last thought the years? I guess she has matured with time... But why did she behave like that? There is definitely something that she's hiding behind those cold words, but what exactly?
Get a grip Arjun, why is her lack of concern and coldness affecting you too much? No, she was, is and will always be my longest and dearest friend, whose presence I'll always treasure in my life. I need to know what's troubling her. Knowing her and her damn pride and ego, she will try extremely hard to hide and cover it from me. But humse kahan bach kar jaogi? Arjun smirked as he rode his bike in to the darkness...
