"Maya?" she said looking alarmed and scared .
"Why this tone little sister? Am I not allowed to see you?" Maya smirked, closing the distance.
"No you are not. Now get the hell out of my room before I call father." She retorted. Though she was scared but she stood her ground.
"Not before I'm fed." Maya replied, trailing her long fingers down her throat. "Besides, father's not home."
"You are sick! How can you do this to me? Why are you doing this to me?" she cried. "Oh Go, please send him." She prayed. Hearing her thought, Maya laughed.
"Oh honey, don't cry. You know, you have to do this. And today I'm not gonna hurt you." Maya said pretending to be kind and then smirked, taking a step towards her.
"You are lying." She snared. Noticing Maya taking a step, she picked up the knife. "Don't come near me." She warned her.
"Oh little sister...my sweet nave little sister." Maya snorted at her. Shrugging her head, she pointed towards the door.
Arjun entered the room. His eyes were bloodshot; like he has been possessed. He brooded beside Maya, his eyes unfocused.
Maya trailed her fingers on his chest, purring in his ears; though he seemed impassive, this made her sick.
"What did you do to him?" She asked Maya, panicking! But Maya chose to ignore her.
" Arjun...my Arjun...You need to kill her love. Just drain her completely." Maya purred in his ears but loud enough.
"She will hurt me and you. You have to kill her." Maya again said to him, looking directly in his eyes.
He looked at her blankly & then his eyes landed on the other girl. The girl looked shaken and scared.
He slowly made his way to the girl. His eyes darker than ever, veins visible & fangs extended.
"no..Arjun! Stop! You are not in your sense! Please!", the girl pleaded.
"Look at me!"
He stared into those eyes. Those chestnut brown eyes. Those love filled eyes looked fear filled now. His eyes traveled all the way down to her quivering lips.
She looked scared and this troubled him.
He couldn't go forward. Those eyes were forbidding him to commit this sin.
He stood there staring into her eyes perplexedly.
He couldn't kill her. Every pounce of his body and mind restricted him.
He turned to face Maya who looked furious.
"Kill I said!" Maya hissed.
A jolt transpired in him and the next thing he did was sink his fangs on the girl's beating vein.
With the girl's heartrending scream, clash of a metal and an evil laughter, Arjun woke up with a start.
He jerked straight up in his seat, panting heavily. It was the same one. The very same nightmare haunting him for the last 150 years.
"Damn it!!" he growled. He went to the loo, washed his face and stared at his reflection.
Every night, every time he tried to sleep this dream will ruin his peace. Arjun never slept peacefully in last 150 years.
Every time this girl would haunt him down in his dream & made him guilty.
Pavani.
The name that brought him solace.
Innocent, nave and beautiful
Smile so purifying... she had the gift to heal anyone with just her smile.
So beautiful and flawlessly human.
And her eyes... stopped him from killing . He never killed anyone unless someone takes a bow to irritate him to the core.
He sighed. He felt guilty; Guilty for killing her. And he did bad stuff all these years just to deal with the guilt.
There were times when he thought of giving up his life but then again, he had a motive too. He had to find Maya and avenge her death. He couldn't end his life, granting Maya the eternity to live.
No, he would find her and make her pay for her deeds.
He turned his humanity off but still didn't kill a single soul, though yes, he had gracefully slaughtered some of his kind.
He became the ruthless monster as he liked to call himself.
But no matter how hard he denies somewhere in the depth of his stone wrapped heart, there were some feelings buried.
He was powerful yet alone. He was dangerous yet calm. He was cold yet vivacious. He was a vampire yet he was Arjun Suryakant Raute, a man of its kind.
Left hoping that someday..Maybe someday, he'll find the peace he's looking for.
The cabin crew announced their arrival. Giving a one last look at the mirror, Arjun went back to his seat.
He's finally home.
~*~*~*~*~
"He's here." A concerned female voice spoke up.
"I know." Another voice clipped in.
Two girls were sitting in a park bench, gazing up in the sky. The night sky was rather clear today. Unusual but the wind was different, they could feel it. A hint of something new?
"Apparently, he's an ACP now and joining ETF from tomorrow. Now the police department believes he is an excellent officer who was in an undercover mission all these year thus no one knows him." The first girl said. She had medium black hair and sharp features.
"Oh good." Her reply was short again. Her chestnut brown eyes looked lost. "How predictable."
"But that means you'd have to face him!" the black haired girl asked, panicking.
"This was bound to happen one day." Her reply was calm as before. Then she stood up, the black haired girl followed her suite.
"Time will get worse than it already is. We need to be prepared." The girl with the chestnut eyes said.
"We are, aren't we?" the other girl asked.
She was lost. Was she ready?
"Of course." She said, nodding reassuringly. She then added,
"Keep Chotu in check. He'll be his first prey."
The black haired girl laughed and the other girl grinned too. "You should go now. I'll meet you in two days." She said.
The black haired girl hugged the other one tightly. She chuckled at her antics and said,
"yeah, love you too Ayesha. Now bye!"
Ayesha smiled and withdrew herself. She gazed at those chestnut brown eyes and saw determination in there. And she knew nothing could go wrong. They both parted their ways and started walking.
"Don't go too hard on him, Aiyana." All of a sudden, Ayesha called out to her.
Aiyana turned to look at her. Seeing a playful smile on her face, Aiyana couldn't stop but smile.
"I'll try." She winked at Ayesha and both walked away.
