it has already been said a number of times but again I m saying this. Hat's off to the creatives...

DOWRy-it is how marriages are fixed in India, even highly educated ppl give and take dowry very happily. They don't see it as a crime or evil practise. It's a culture...a trend in India.it a way of bragging, showing off, telling ur relatives and neighbours how capable u are ,used by both ,girl and boy's family, if u manage to marry ur daughter in a very rich family, a big fat wedding then u r rly capable person and if u manage to get ur son a wife from a rich family it is considered prestigious ,there's a thinking that a person from a rich family is a good person and would make a good husband/wife.

In my community and many others(caste wise) marriages are arranged on dowry. Marriages are arranged like a business deal...this much money and we will accept ur daughter ...dowry is must...parents settle down on a boy who's deman they can afford. that is how many people in my family got married,i don't see a way out...

Naughtykitty,
this is the story.

In my country,Bangladesh,there is a girl named Farzana,who studied in a college.
She was proposed for marriage.
For that,she went to the village.
On the day of their wedding,as the Qazi did all the legal writings and the couple were legally married.
Actually u know,what happened?
On the day of her wedding,she was yet to be bid farewell,when she heard of her in laws demanding dowry.
She,immediately,changed into her normal clothes and went infront of the whole family of her,the Qazi and the groom's family,and divorced the groom right there,by saying,"Teen Talaq".
She brought the District Magistrate and the Polce with her and infront of them,she sighned the divorce papers and gave them the engagement ring and broke her own wedding,because,her to be in laws were demanding dowry.
