She closed her eyes tight and covered herself with the sheets. He came closer to her, she could feel his hot breath on her face. He sat down on the bed and watched her for some time and then he dozed off.

Next Morning

At Breakfast

She glanced at the wall clock, it was 9:30 a.m. What is taking him so long? She wondered.

He is usually ready by 9 and he is really particular about time. She started towards their room.

She froze at the door when she saw the sight before her. He was madly searching for something. It looked like a storm has swept through their room and turned everything upside down. The room was a big mess.

He caught her glimpse in the mirror, he turned back sharply to face her.

She was still confused, shocked!

Wh-What are you doing here? He cried.

She looked at him like an idiot. She didn't know what to say. She felt irritated at the mess he has created and confused at the same time.

"Arjun, Breakfast is rea-"

I am coming in a moment, he almost shouted as he gestured her to leave.

She was baffled at his sudden outburst. She left the room closing the door behind her.

He had NEVER spoken to her like this before.

*Riya's POV*

See?

Told you!

Arjun has changed.

Changed for the worse.

And what was he searching for?

This guy makes me go somersaults. There is definitely something fishy!

But nobody believes me when I say he has changed. I told Shree once, about his strange behavior.

But he looked at me as if I have lost it and thought it was a joke.

They would believe, if only they could see him the way I can.

Then they could see a stranger in him too..

Or maybe I am thinking too much!

I know I should not doubt him. He loves me a lot and I love him too.

But what can I do?

The cop in me refuses to believe!

Investigation karni padhegi!

I want answers Mr. Rawte.

He reached the table shortly. His face was devoid of any emotions, it was impossible to figure out what he was thinking. He took the paratha and roughly rolled it and wrapped a tissue paper around it, gulped the juice down in one go and started towards the door. He stopped at the door.

Don't wait for me at the dinner, he announced and left the room.

She opened her mouth to retort but he had already left by then.

Intezaar..

Intezaar!!

The rest of the day went uneventful. She had her dinner alone, and went to her room.

She gazed at the view from the window of her room. The winter moon lit up the dark sky. The trees were black and branches were shivering at the wind's touch.

She saw his car coming. She rushed towards the bed, switching off the lights and pretended to be asleep.

He saw her wrapped up in sheets, sleeping like a baby. He carefully closed the door and went away.

She waited for a while.

Then arouse and followed him silently.

He was in the study. The door was partially open. She peeped through the door. She could hear him talk, but his voice was dangerously low. He was talking over the phone, his voice was quite soft as if he was mumbling something to himself. She could not comprehend what he was saying. Going by the body language it looked like he was taking to a lady. He was smiling throughout the conversation. Yes, it was a lady indeed on the other side.

She could feel tears pooling in her eyes, as she visualized Arjun with some other girl. The girl must be very pretty, she thought.

Are you crazy Riya?

She hit herself, and forced her mind to divert. He helped her in that. Her thoughts got drifted away as she heard him laughing hysterically. She shut her eyes tight, tears streamed down her face. No, he can't do this to her. Wiping away the tears she decided that she won't let the tiny flickering light of hope in her die.

A pin drop silence enveloped the room. She could not hear anything. She crawled closer to the door.

She was about to rest her hand on the door but he swung open the door with so much force that she almost lost her balance.

The look in his eyes...
