Look folks, I have seen a lot of posts here admiring the chap who played Vidyut Satham. That is ok,though we really saw very little of his actual face, only a bit at the end, and nothing of his acting. He was a goodlooking youngster, and that was about it. If you look at the suiting and formal wear ads in the papers, faces like his are a dime a dozen.
However, as far as the character goes, he is not just the son of a wronged man seeking revenge by exposing his father's enemies. He is a sadist, plain and simple, with a solid dose of madness added. He was planning to inflict fiendish torture on the one of the two - Rathore and the other - who survived the Russian roulette exercise. What if it had been Rathore whom he tortured, and for no fault of his?
No kind of betrayal of his father can justify what he does, and what he is planning to do. No more that what that Rajat Sharma was planning to do, to kill hundreds of thousands of people, can be justified as due to his desire to take revenge for what happened to his father.
We cannot be indulgent towards such screwed up characters just because they look good. Would any of you feel the same towards this Vidyut Satham or that Rajat Sharma if either looked like the Hunchback of Notre Dame? I think not. Nor would you feel the same if any of the 2 chaps this Vidyut has already killed was your parent or a relative.
I agree completely that what happened to Rajat Sharma's and Vidyut Satham's fathers was horribly unfair. It was not even a failure of the system - for in the latter case, Sameer Rathod is completely guiltless in the matter. It is a matter of a villain twisting the system to get his nemesis framed and then using the media to destroy him. In the former, it is an administrative confusion because of the change of shift. But the end results were terrible for the two families.
But to be prepared to torture and murder both the guilty and the innocent (Rathore) for this shows a degree of sadism that is worse and more terrible than the crookedness of that Prakash Dey and his cohorts.
I am not writing this to preach at any of you, please don't think that. I am sure your admiration for these chaps is only for their looks, and not for their characters. But one should not confuse the two.
And one cannot admire sadistic criminals just because they look cute. Many serial killers might be looking cute, like the one in American Psycho. I am sure all of you will agree with me on this.
