Why?

If I remember correctly, MD had used a cane earlier and made Anupamaa stand on one foot for being late and expecting that the universe will bend because she needs to celebrate with her family. MD had very well established the methods she uses in her Gurukul. It's pretty obvious that MD deliberately doesn't have a family and has used the iron fist many times to make her Gurukul successful without being emotional.

If we didn't get shocked by the cane back then, why are we getting shocked by the slap now?

The problem here is that MD made the stupidity to trust Anupamaa with such a grand show and US branch uttaradhikari without testing her with smaller commitments first.

And it's high time Anupamaa realizes that not everyone will melt like salt just by seeing her tears and "Maa hoon ne" jaap.

They made a "circus" of the udaan 😂😂😂

Exactly. Kitni waah waah hui thi jab Kavya ko thappad maara tha. I remember ek baar toh Kavya ka haath bhi marod diya tha. Jab khud par Baat aayi toh morcha nikal gaya hai physical violence ka 🤣
