of course, how could I forget. Thank for reminding me. Only Maa can better raise her son to act like Toshu, to teach her daughter to lay down on a dirty foot path to contemplate life when things don’t go your way.🤔

While I 100% agree with everything you said, I also feel that the show after touting itself as the flagbearer of woman empowerment had the power to bring about some kind of change. Rather than just showing what such women go through, it could have shown hope, a change however gradual, of these regressive thoughts. How toxic and abusive elders deserve to be put in their place, how women can walk out of abusive families and carve a life for themselves and in spite of difficulties they may face, it's still better than holding onto a toxic family. Instead they seem to show that no matter what happens, you can never really grow and move forward in life because your "family" and "responsibilities" will hold you back. The show has the power to make a huge difference, considering the following it has but instead it stuck to just showing the realities of many women and that nothing much can be done about it.

Rather, it continues to propagate extremely regressive ideas like "bacche hone se sab theek ho jayega" and "bade bhagwan hain no matter what they do", stay with a cheating husband because you can't raise a child alone, adjust compromise sacrifice, never move forward in life and continue serving your abusive ex in laws while neglecting people who care for you, adopted child can never be loved as much as your biological child, victims of forced prostitution are home breakers, you shouldn't help people who have gone through terrible tragedies etc. And the fact that the concept of karma doesn't even exist in this show. The vile people get everything they want while the good ones suffer, and nothing changes throughout the show.

Yes, that is true. They had the opportunity to show second marriage, adoption etc in a good light but it seems that they ended up mocking it rather than reducing the stigma around these issues.

Anupamaa is a character on the extreme end of the spectrum for whom no positive change is possible in life. Let's say that a dutiful wife/homemaker like her comes to know of her husband's Ema. They'd either swallow it in silence or get separated. The latter is less likely. Having an EMA themselves to get back is not permitted by their conscience. But Anupamaa never moved out nor could she get mentally separated from Vanraj and Shahs even when she went with Anuj Kapadia. What expectations can one have from such a person? It's too late for her in life to change (the older one gets, the resistance increases anyway)

Essentially, the show is a wolf in sheep's clothing as they are portraying a regressive mentality instead of a slower gradual change which is more realistic for someone in her position and could have still incorporated dramatic elements, necessary for a show. I'd rather try to wean off people around me who are watching this show especially if it influences their value judgment because it'll only embolden more people to have a regressive thought process.

Forgiving them and not giving baddua was more than enough to make her great but this is extreme case of stalk home syndrome where she is happy for the women who cheated her in worst possible way humiliated her tried to manipulate her daughter

It is traumetising for the victims of cheating

Thank God, I've stopped watching. Even though I used to watch only a few clips here and there so to claim that I've stopped watching sounds weird but still😆
