It's ITV, babyyy! Yahaan hero fiance ka murder kar de, bhai ka murder kar de tab bhi heroine acchi patni hone ki saari duties nibhaati h.

In all fairness, Sonakshi made her husband work for her apology (also the slap happened because her father spoke about her husband's mother to her husband in a derogatory manner)

Okay, that's why. I can understand them both now. Did her father apologise to his mother later on, at all?

Wait. Don't tell me she really did something enough for him to speak derogatorily to her😆

His father's anger was quite justified as the relationship between Dev and his mom was toxic and too codependent because of Dev's mother raising her children as a single mother in absolute dire situations so their dynamics were not at all healthy. But Dev's mother never disrespected Sonakshi's parents. So though that slap was entirely unjustifiable, yet obviously while it wasn't fair to Sonakshi but Dev and his mother's obsessive, codependent relationship has its reasons.

Thanks for being so patient with me and my curious cat nature🤗

From wanting Kavya, the vamp, to suffer for whatever he had made Anupamaa go through to having an 180 degree change of perspective that she is flawed yet a sane and reasonable character..

For wanting Anupama to move out of toxicity to witness the same character dishing out the similar toxicity in her second marriage...

Wanting her freedom from Shahs' but ultimately giving up watching her repeatedly lapping up to that toxicity as if her life depended on it...

Instead of a middle-aged woman who wanted to start afresh all we got was MAA, ex-wife, bahu bani beti but remained dasi, Anumpamaid who never had an actual drive to move ahead..

And that is just the tip of the iceberg to say the least..

But I think a romance angle for Anupamaa was too early at least at the point when she had not resolved her issues. I don't know if that chapter is still in NCERT English Literature but when I was in School, there was a play called Mother's Day in our syllabus in which the protagonist Mrs. Pearson had the same personality and predicament as Anupama and it handled the issue a lot lot better.

Anyways, I always felt ITV shows are too commercial to work as vehicles of social change and yet, if the makers were touting Anupamaa as a woman empowerment show, it was such a negative message to drill in girls' mind that if your husband has abused you for 25 years, don't worry there's a millionaire, almost perfect Mary Sue guy waiting for you since 26 years so that you can marry him and adopt a child and have your happily ever after in a Lala land. It'd have been better if they let Anupama work on her issues like setting boundaries with her children and Shah family, work on building her career realizing bade bade bhashanon se zindagi nahi katti, even a leap would've been better showing Anupamaa 2.0 as a confident, assertive, modern, successful businesswoman and then let her meet Anuj. Regarding Anuj, the way they showed him as a lovesick puppy as a teenager whose only work was to simp over Anupama and sing her praises at every moment was ridiculous. Dude you can show someone in love while retaining his personality and flawed humanity. Regarding this I think Kasautii Zindagi Kay 1 has done much better job showing how a couple is ripped apart after their child's death when the mother spends more time in her ex-husband's house tending to his grown children. Now I only hope in Anupamaa that they completely do away with romance angle for some time, maybe even take a leap and show a real changed Anupamaa as a successful businesswoman like post leap Sonakshi Bose in Kucch Rang Pyaar ke Aise Bhi. Maybe after the leap they show Anupama and Anuj developing organic chemistry.

And please for once let Anupamaa say Sorry and Thank You properly.

At this point, the only journey I desperately want is for her to say “sorry” just once like normal people. Rest, she can do whatever she wants

I would have love to see something like this. Even if mature growth for this 45 something grandmother would have been loved by me. Stand up for herself would have been wonderful. I love rest of your post.

I can't comment on comparing this show to other shows you mentioned because outside of this show, I do not watch any other Indian shows nor have I watched this show long enough to have examples to use.

I only have post September of 2022 to go by and clipping of whatever star plus shows on you tube. Sorry if, I can't add more.

I have gotten used to (Anglish) as I call it as it isn't her native language. I find it hilarious hearing it now.
