I don't hate RG. And I don't think she's a bad actor either. Just look at the stark difference in her portrayal of Monisha and Anupama. A bad actor wouldn't have been able to pull that off.

I just feel like Anupama serial in itself is a wasted opportunity. This show could have been a breath of fresh air for ITV only if the makers weren't so senseless and headless about the story.

I'd never blame the actor for making the best of a crappy script and poor screenplay. The writers wrote those terrible dialogues that RG has to speak out convincingly.

If anything I blame the creatives of this show for all the nonsense on social media. They've marketed the show as some pathbreaking drama. They push out divisive promos. They've turned a good character into a hypocritical egotistic caricature. They encourage all of it because it keeps their crappy show in the news and fetches them views.

The actor is just trying to earn their bread at this point. I bet when the show was first pitched to RG even she must have thought it was going to go a lot differently than it actually did

Chhavi? Really? She is just okay. Typical vamp so nothing much to expect. But she is pretty so maybe that is a confounding factor here.

Rupali was fantastic earlier but has become monotonous and caricature like. Haven’t seen the last few episodes so can’t comment. The mandir scene with Anuj keeps popping up in my head. Damn, the betrayal.

Gaurav started off okay but has now become incredible, he has polished his craft. I would love to see him somewhere else, maybe a nice webseries.

Well I don't think anyone hates Rupali. In fact this show caught my attention because of Rupali (atleast when it started). I loved her as Monisha in Sarabhai.

There are some issues with acting and dancing but honestly I don't blame it only on Rupali.

Even seasoned actor/actress needs good direction, training, character growth, consistency and research to portray a character correctly. The Anupamaa serial as a whole has failed a big time to maintain any of these.

I don’t like Rupali in this role anymore so my opinion is restricted to RG in the role of Anupamaa. Nothing beyond that

The writers have given her such shitty dialogues & direction is terrible. I don’t know if ‘parrot on crack’ mode is her own doing or the makers but I cannot stand it.
The pallu thing …is gross AF. I don’t want to see snot distribution on the show

The stammering, crying, shaking is completely OTT

don’t get me started on the dancing …if something is not an actors forte best not to keep having them do it

the one thing I do find problematic is that Rupali keeps saying Anupamaa is an inspiration for women. Maybe at one point in the show she was , but that is certainly not the case now.

I tried seeing this from a different perspective. In my line of work(fintech),which is nothing related to solving social issues. If someone asked me promote and encourage regressive ideas within our team, what should I do? Does my conscience allow me to do that?

Well, I'm glad I stay away from any content about the show on other sites. Here, there's the scope of discussions being mature as well as humorous with most people commenting quite sanely and there's a lot of creative expression as well.

I'm going to write to the management of Dawn Valley Kolej to suggest starting a 3 month course on Cognitive Abilities as there's a huge need for the same. Maybe, they can get it endorsed by their star student (who knew more than the instructor) and then they'd surely have a lot of takers for this course. 😆

For me the only thing that truly matters about an actor is their acting skills (which has nothing to do with the character but yes, a good actor with good character is cherry on top and enhances the viewing experience). For example I loved Abhay Raichand but didn't like Vivian's acting at all (PKYEK). Loved Vikram's acting skills but Atharva's character was bore and had nothing to offer (JNDSD).

Anupa as a character has disgusted me to the core. There are many reasons such as her hypocrisy, perpetual victim mentality, refusing to change for the better, being doormat for Shahs, negligent for Anu, over pampering to the kids who character assassinate her, refusing to admit to her mistakes, worshipping her abusers and licking their as* all the time, endless and meaningless bhashans to name a few.

As far as Rupali's acting is concerned, I loved her as Monisha. I haven't watched any other show of her to judge correctly but to me it seems like she is just not fit to be Anupama. The over the top mannerisms and gestures she has added to the character (which are thought be the chef's kiss) have actually ruined her for me. The subtleness which is required from a mature woman's mannerisms is absent from her.

But I'm not saying she's not a good actor. For me, she's just not Anupama.

Same here, I do not know enough about her to hate her either. I do know enough that I dislike the character Anupama. I also never follow what actors do off screen in private. I have my own life and busy career, family and only few hours in a week to relax and enjoy watching, I am not about to waste it on what actors are doing off screen.

I agree good actors, materials, will make me coming back and sticking around long after everyone else has left. Even if it means watching in syndication here in USA or binge watching trying catch up on shows no longer on. Prime Example for me has to be here in USA, The Law and Order franchise series I have been watching them since before, I got married, stopped watching after my kids came into this earth and I got busy raising them. I finally started catching up on them two yrs ago and still catching up on them. 15 years of catching up to do still.🤪 The series, the directors, actors, everyone involved have put on a great franchise that has had me glued since first episode in 1990.

She has a point there, it is inspiration to never be like Anupama and never wish this type of woman on any man/child or 2nd family. I am inspired to never be like her.🤣
