Honestly when anupama (Rupa maam) said anuj kapadiya (Gaurav Khanna) is nations crush i have to agree with her

I have seen 8 year old kids to 15 year old teenagers to 25 year olds 40 year olds and even 60 or 80 year olds liking him

And its not about girls even boys and men are following his style and talking of his character in serial

Usually i have seen girls discuss actors in school college office etc but boys and men are talking of anuj kapadiya

Before anuj you could skip some episodes and watch anupama

But now viewers are glued to screen i think because of anuj kapadiya

After seeing hero marrying 3 wives and having 5 affairs anuj kapadia character is a relief

I mean for last 20 years since TV serial boom there has not been a character as pure as anuj kapadia on TV or movies

Even if one man one heroine was shown hero was toxic masculine and misbehaving etc

Anuj is neither

The last time nation crushed on a actor was SRK may be of all age groups or a Madhuri dixit (i am not sure of amitabh bachchan craze in 70s or rajesh khannas i have heard during their peak ppl were crazy too)

After that its anuj kapadiya aka Gaurav khanna

Even Hrithik had no such craze among all age groups like this both by women and men from 5 to 85 years

What is it about this character or actor that all are going so ga ga?

I started watching this show just few weeks back all because so many ppl told me to watch anuj kapadiya that hes good and has an aura like SRK on screen

I felt anuj kapadiya is better than SRK because hes not stammering and doing anti hero or masculine roles misogynistic roles like SRK did in KKHH

I felt his janam dehklo recreation in hospital in such little place was better than SRKs janam dekhlo in movie thanks to his expressions and emoting skills

Only wardrobe needs change rest all is ok for anuj kapadiya

Every serial and movie is about a woman coming to mans life and changing him for better human

First time a man has come in a serial or movie and changed a womans life without much drama and OTT etc (over the top drama)

That itself is reason enough to like anuj kapadiya

Anuj strength is his silence and thats his bigggest strength

Whether vanraj is grabbing his neck or toshu spewing venom at him or anupama is upset or angry and telling him to go off her life etc he takes it so silent and cool

Its like hes attained nirvana in life hes so cool

Only time he screamed was to confess he loved anupama from 26 years to vanraj

Otherwise i like how he waits silently far away and silent as strength to anupama and taking care of even her worst her family members without expecting anything in return not even gratitude or respect

What a character?

If this is not true love what is? Just helping not expecting anything in return

Hats off to anuj kapadiya

Because no one in real life behave so cool and good after taking so much abuse and rejections and humilations although hes so powerful he can crush them in seconds

But its his love for anupama and his decency that stops him from answering back

Onlly time he snapped was when Baa abused GK his foster mummy and dad

i love this post. some very very good observations. ive been watching serials for 12-15 yrs now and so many of them i had to leave half-way cuz i couldnt handle how the hero would treat the heroine (IPK, Madhubala, Rangrasiya etc). Like it gets to the point when you cant even justify it to yourself anymore. I think everyone is tired of this worn out narrative that that more he yells and treats you poorly the greater his love is gonna be when he finally does fall in love. its almost insulting to our intelligence at this point. even on DMG, riddhima gave armaan such a hard time EVERY DAY EVERY EPISODE. he went thru the pits with her. 😆 anyways, i digress. i think anuj is like a breath of fresh air...people inherently (especially women) want to believe that there is still good out there and i think anuj represents that. its so easy to believe when you hear of women being cheated on, abused etc. we dont even blink an eye or question it. but when do we hear about good men? it's rare, even in fiction.

side note, i saw a comment on an IF article the other day where this user totally bashed as follows :

"Justifying casanova behavior , sick🤮🤮.

Brainwashing girls to make them see this a**hole as some kind of devout lover"

Interesting to see the different perspectives I guess...

I agree with you that Gaurav is indeed a nations crush but not only nation but international crush too. Here girls in my country are crazy for Kpop and I'm crazy for Gaurav. Even my friends and cousins are crazy for kpop and I for Gaurav. Talk about a girl who watches hindi series and not any series of her own language. I do get a lot of scolding and taana maar because of my weak grip on my language but I feel blessed and I don't care about what others say because such character like Anuj Kapadia if I will ever wait for it to be dubbed in my language I might never be able to watch it in my lifetime because the shows that deserves to be dubbed is never done and I would never ever like to see a dubbed voice over the real one based on a previous shows experience because they sometimes change the entire dialogue and the feel of the character and the scene gets lost.

Anuj Kapadia is the rarest ever character in ITV. I actually love those characters who have hidden secrets in their life but don't let those affect them, like those characters who is complete but sill not complete. And one sided love is among them. Anuj fits all that list now. God I cant put my thoughts in words now.

Anuj actually nasha utara of the other character I was crazy for a very long time. He too is so much crazy in love with his gf but due to an incident he keeps her away from him to protect her and seeing both of them break and handle themselves time to time is truly beautiful and saddening. The show is still ongoing. I actually had a saying to myself that if the character can have patience for a long time facing his problems so can I and now Anuj too joins the list for his 26 years of love. Im now too crazy for Anuj that I will have a very hard time getting over him.

The only thing that saddens me is that even though I was a fan of his from the beginning I was always on and off with his shows. Anupama is the only show of his that I saw without skipping any of the episodes and now I'm slowly watching his old shows too.

Too much to write and too less words comes to mind

i can relate to you a bit on this. my first (and only) language is english. i picked up hindi from all of the bollywood movies i would watch with eng subs. other than my aunt. no one else watches anupamaa...im really enjoying see all of the other fans online though...if there is one thing i believe in, it is the power of the IT fans, you guys can get ANYTHING done 😆. also i agree with you about the translation, i watch the show with eng sub on hotstar with my aunt and sometimes i have to pause it cause the translations is just paraphrased and you dont get the full effect of what they are saying. what was the other character you were a fan of for a long time?
