Why are makers insisting that mothers should always suffer?

I an a longtime lurker, I mage this account just to post this rant.

Anupama is a cancer patient who is in remission, a working woman, a mother and a daughter. Since the beginning the makers have made sure that anupama is shown as a superwoman who will do all the work herself without anybody's help. I just want to say one thing, this is not healthy.

During second wave, we saw a viral pic of a mother who was working in kitchen while being on oxygen. Her children were roasted by netizens for not helping her and keeping her in a dangerous situation since oxygen tank in a kitchen is basically a fire hazard. Everyone empasized that she needs rest and housework is responsibility of all family members.

However in anupama, she recovers after her treatment without needing rest, in fact on first day bak at home, everyone is placing order of their choice of tea and coffee without offering help or insisting that she rest. Anupama is waking up at 4:am to cook and clean, while other members are going on their days like everything is fine. They don't even hie a maid for a few days, while placing all the burden on anupama and kinjal.

When anupama's mom was sick, she could have stayed with her for a few days, instead she was running between her residence, hospital and her work while forgetting to take her own medicine.

It was mentioned that they haven't paid for her treatment till date, and now they have additionnal debt of 20L. But when opportunity to earn extra money comes before samar, he would rather stay under his mother's pallu and diss everyone who goes abroad to earn money.

On every turn, this show has glorified toxic family environment in name of making sacrifices to show anupama as great and bechari. They are not only setting a wrong example, but also showing parenthood as a burden one should carry for life.

Yup since after operation the ways cvs anupama doing almost all house hold chores as soon sher has new surgery it look so unrealistic

Yahan reality mein operation ke baad theek se chal se nahin sakte aur anupama ko kaam karte hue dikhaya jaa raha hai

Surgery ke baad body bahut weak ho jaati hai to infections aur chance ho ta hai to in reality mein doctor operation ke baad body recover ke liye at last 3 month strict bed rest aur proper diet ko kehte hain

And i have also rant about it and i rant they shah family should keep maid but they didi

Yeh to keh rahe they jhilmil aayegi. It cross almost 2 month but jhilmil abhi tak nahin aayi ?? To anupama abhi bhi lagbhag saara ghar ka saara kaam, dance academy mein seekhna, vanraj ki cafe mein help karna, school jaana sub khuch anupama abhi bhi akele kar rahi hai

And i think samar should go agar chance mila aur log samar ke kaam ko apprecuate karke use broad mein best dance option ka chance de rahe hain to aise golden chance ko samar ko nahin ghoshna chahiye. Aise golden chance bar baar nahin aate

Btw i think abhi samar ka na jaana drama create ke liye daala gaya and i think after some days samar will go there will leap of at least 2 years

This the problem with Indian shows. Instead of showing proper resolution they just want to make female lead mahaan and superwoman. But no woman is superwoman. Infact a women's body is more weak than men.

Anupama's children are so toxic that even after their mother survived a terminal disease they don't realise what loosing a mother can mean. Not hiring a maid and waiting for jhilmil to return was stupidest thing. So many working ppl and they can't get a maid. Generally working couple hv two maid, one for cleaning and one for cooking. But here with so many ppl they don't have any maid.

So true. I am a doctor and I was so mad after watching that sequence. When my mom was recovering from covid my brothers and I distributed all chores among ourselves and ran the household for 1 month. I prefer to watch marathi version, it has such a subtle realism, it leaves me astonished. In the latest episode, the maid is on leave as her husband is ill, we see babuji(appa in marathi version) folding his own clothes and keeping them in cupboard, as it is very natural. On the other hand in anupama, they made a 10 min long dramatic sequence to show distribution of chores.

Thank ful real life doctor is telling after surgery proper rest is needed . Not taking proper rest and doing all house hold chores and Even job is not healthy

That is why i was worried when almost whole family shift to anupama resort room and i worried now anupama ko sabke ke liye khaana banayegi aur anupama ko proper rest nahin milega

I have told many time it is not possible for house wives particular who have just come from major surgery and immediately doing all that too heavy work like cooking mote mote aaloo and gobhi ke paratha for 7,8 member

I have complain cvs many many time 2 month before

that that A person who has just major surgery so she need proper rest intead of cooking washing utensils for 7,8 member and we have vigourous discussion on this

Yeh serial lead ko anupama ko super women dikhaya but i know though i am not doctor but i have heard and see that jiska just major surgery operation hua ho woh aisa 7,8 member ke liye woh bhi bhaag bhaag ke full energy ke saath kaam nahin kar sakta

Agree with you at some point 👍🏼 par ye bhi utna hi sach hai ke metro city ko chodkar Anupama ki age ki lady ne In maise bahut kuch face kiya hota hai apni maa ya dadi se puchna wo batayegi sachai😭..mai apni baat batati hu kyu ke mai issi age group ki hu..mai Canada mai 19 years se hu aur 17 years se single mother..ajj mera beta 24 ka hai par uske pehle mai first time pregnant hui aur 3 month miscarriage hogaya because of over work (sasuma kehti thi jyada kam karnese baccha healthy hoga) and I was admitted in hospital for 2 days blood bhi chadana pada aur jaise hi ghar mai kadam rakha wohi Anupamawalu story sab ne apni farmaish rakh di uss din maine total 9 peoples ki alag alag dishes banayi thi forget about rest😡 maa bete ke jagde ki vagah se alag hue to mere sone ke liye ek gadda tak nahi diya sasuma ne aur nahi husband ko yaad raha🤢 17 years pehle jab husband cheats karke sare dollars and gold lekar India bhag gaya tab se 5 years back tak mai har din subah 3:45 ko uthti thi 5 o'clock job start karti thi 3 4 paying guest the, mera catering ka business tha aur multi level marketing business bhi tha kul milake mai 12 am ko soti thi aaj wohi hardship ki vajah se body ne jawab dena shuru kiya hai aur mai almost bedridden hu abb to sirf mai aur beta hi hai par fir bhi jitna ho sake kaam karne ki koshish karti hu shayad hamare group ki har ladies yehi (kam ya jyada) face kar chuki hai ya kar rahi hai..sad hai par yahi reality hai

3 months miscarriage!🥲🥲it must be extremely tough for you Dipali ji ! You should file case against sasuma and husband both. Canadian laws are strict right?!

In your case , at least it’s clear nobody was there to support you and your mother in law and husband was responsible for your misery. In anupama’s case, she never acknowledges that everyone treats her badly . Neither yesterday nor today she will ever acknowledge that baa was also responsible for her poor mental health. She will never acknowledge Toshu/pakhi was also responsible for her poor mental health.

After suffering for years, the way your body took a toll and now almost bedridden , after suffering for years anupama’s mental health has also took a toll and she is in poor mental health condition that’s why she feels overwhelming in every next situation.

Today I am able to connect with you because you acknowledge the suffering you faced for years because of sasuma and husband but look at anupama she is not even ready to acknowledge it ever that baa is also responsible for ruining her life.

This is the main difference in between you and anupama that even though you both are of similar age, you suffered and suffering made scratches on your heart which you are not able to forgot looks very real unlike anupama character.

Can you stay with the same mother in law now because of whom you suffered miscarriage? Can you be friends with the husband who run away with your money/jewellery?! anupama has does these all the things which makes huge difference in between you and her.

So true, I hqve said this before too that Marathi version is more realistic. Even they are showing Arundhati's illness properly (Anupama in that show). They are talking in terms of fibroids, menopause and bleeding and so many things. So that the non medical background viewers will also be able to understand and connect with what problems a woman can face after her 40s.

Also the most important thing I loved is that arundhati had left that house and is with her mother, even though there they have not shown her mother as ill.
