The fashion designer will dress up Annu Kapur for his new show
There was a time when the idiot box played second fiddle to the silver screen, but not any more. Designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed for one certainly seems to agree.
Which explains why he has decided to venture into television by designing for Annu Kapur, the anchor of the upcoming show 'Antakshari'.
So what made him take it up? "Well, to begin with TV is no longer a 'small' medium; it's growing by leaps and bounds. Moreover, I have never differentiated between the two media or for that matter, even my buyers - they could be someone known or lesser known," he explains, adding that he's open to similar offers for TV, provided the project is a challenging one.
"After all, TV has a wider reach and this way, my work will be exposed to larger audiences," he observes.
Ask him about the look he has designed for Anu and he says, "This time around, the overall look is going to be very modern. Of course, there will also be ethnic wear, depending upon the occasion — it'll keep varying.
But it'll most definitely be not loud. Sophisticated is the best way to describe it," he elaborates.
Apart from this, Narendra is also busy with preparations for his LA show and of course, the Lakme Fashion week. "March will be one hectic month — the LA show is taking place mid-March followed by the LFW," he notes.
And given the huge response that his show 'In protest' had generated at last year's LFW, does he plan to follow it up with something similar? To which he replies, "I do intend to have a theme for my collection. But I haven't really zeroed in on one particular theme yet."
