Speculation ("Poo suttral")

Niri so kindly sent me a DVD containing some old episodes featuring ACD-Priya interactions which I had never seen before (the visit to Shanthi's home with his parents, the art gallery scene and a caf scene). Although it was in NTSC format and I couldn't view it smoothly on my computer, I managed to catch a bit of the action and conversation.

Having watched those episodes I think I now understand why Cheyar decided that Priya should be a psychology major -- she's got much work ahead.

Yes, I've concluded that ACD must be suffering from serious multiple personality disorder, just like Vikram in Anniyan 😃

When in uniform he is stiff and makes statements like "duty is my first wife" (Priya actually offered to be his second wife in that caf scene!) and "Priya should know how to adjust herself if she is to marry a policeman", blah, blah, blah. When he is in civvies, however, he secretly seeks her attention (in those early scenes, e.g., the car ride after the art gallery, even the visit to Shanthi's house), tears out his hair and pines for her, takes out his frustration on the tv and cellphone, etc. (As for that flag day episode, I guess he simply forgot to look down at what he was wearing; he thought he was in jeans and T-shirt rather than khakis).

So, Priya will one day diagnose ACD's illness and take him to a psychiatrist. After a month of treatment, ACD will start behaving in reverse – stiff and insensitive when in civiies and all lovey dovey when in uniform. He will goof off so much when in uniform that JC will sack him from the force.

Priya will then take him back to the psychiatrist, who will now have an easier time since ACD will no longer be donning khakis, only civvies. The shrink will advise Priya that treatment could be a prolonged affair and that it would depend largely on Priya seducing him but also holding back when he starts to yield, the idea being to train him to do the chase. That will take 300 episodes for sure and will be a much welcome change from this surfeit of murders and intrigues. 😃

Priya/omni reach hospital and akka comes and talks to ACD but Priya comes out but remains near her car only. ACD looks at Priya from a distance but she looks away. (Sorry everyone, still Priya is very angry--so we can expect this much only!).
... ACD prepares to leave in his vehicle and he leaves after giving one more long look at Priya who again looks away.

Dasa, thanks for the detailed update. But, pray tell us, diehard romantics, what kind of look was this. Did ACD give Priya an angry look, a yearning look or something nondescript.
