Yes, I do think Mani was play-acting but I agree with Mayavi that she has the right to a sort of divorce settlement. Oh, puleeze, Mr Viduthalai, as I keep repeating post after post, Karthik doesn't deserve either of the two women -- he is such an indecisive and unassertive fool. Sure, he had no idea that Mani was pregnant when he married Shanthi, but he shouldn't have dumped her in the first place in the name of making a sacrifice and made not just Mani unhappy but himself and Shanthi (at this crappy thottum thodadha relationship).
Let the two women dump him and fend for themselves; both seem equally capable of looking after themselves. Please revert to the original theme of the story -- showing women as strong, independent individuals.
Family life is important but dysfunctional families have deleterious effects on kids. Frankly, I don't like this idea of showing Indhu and Rocky getting on so well and not having insecurities and petty jealousies and rivalries after discovering their parentage. Their harmonious relationship serves to endorse the two wives concept. I remember one scene when RK was telling K, S and M to stop trying to leave the house and learn from the kids to get on with each other. The worst advice I have heard.
