TOI: Its challenging to play a witch: Simran Kaur

While some actors would steer clear of negative roles, Simran Kaur, who became popular as Diya of 'Na Aana Is Des Laado', prefers variety. She waited for four months after Laado ended, for a role that piqued her interest, and that's how Anamika happened. However, she says, it is not easy to play a chudail (witch).

Says Simran, "I was getting roles similar to Diya's. And then, I was offered Anamika. My first concern was that the character shouldn't be completely negative. The producers told me that the role is grey, but there is no middle path on television. It's either negative or positive. However, I have immense faith in my producers." Another concern was that while a chudail needs a matured look, Simran has soft features. To overcome that, the actress worked on her expressions and look. So, has she ever had any spooky experience? "Not yet. I am extremely religious and believe that my guardian angels are always protecting me. I pray on a regular basis; in fact, I have started praying even more now."

Will she trouble Jeet, who might tie the knot with Rano soon? "The character of Anamika will spring surprises frequently. Whoever dares to come in my way will have to bear the consequences. As far as Jeet is concerned, you never know, he might even fall in love with me," she says.
