A daughter spends 20 odd years with her parents, and (IF) her parents from the start say tu toh pyari hai, ek na ek din tujhe toh aapne ghar chale jaana. The girl still smiles and thinks ke chalo ok. But then the same beti is married, and she has all these dreams ke yeh ab mera ghar hai ji. Her dreams get shattered when her sasuraal says ke tu toh prayi hai, tujhe humare ghar ke baare mein kya pata hoga. Great ji, maa baap bhi beti ko prayi bole, aur sasuraal bhi. Phir uss beti ka ghar kahaan hai ji? Upar wala bhool gaya ek beti ko ghar dena.

Our society will never change...

On this occassion of womens day all I want to say is:

Ruk jaana nahin tu kahiin haar ke
kanton pe chalke milenge saaye bahaar ke

Just keep going and achieve your dreams and dont think what the society talks about you.. There will be 100 people to comment on you.. If you cross all these Odds and come out, then no one can stop you!! You can be a leader to those 100 who spoke against you!!

Oh, you are very right ji, our society as a whole will never change! I find it sad that India got its' westernized culture from the British and kept it at that. India's civilization was the only one in 5000 years ago that showered woman with equal respect as man, but look at it now ji. Fetus death is rising so much, not only in India alone, and then now when 1 girl for every 4 guys is seen they are worried for future(they deserve it!).

I've lived in India for a year and a half, and the whole praya dhan was so vivid ji. Why don't they call the son that? If you look at it, sons are the ones who act praya when the wives come ji(a lot, NOT all). Anywayz, I live my life the way my beliefs shape me, and I don't care if others find it wrong or w/e. Auro ki beti pe bahut jaldi ungli uth thi hai ji, bas yeh bhool jaate hain ke unnki bhi ek beti hai. I've gotten in so much trouble for my attitude, but if I believe in it I do it ji, and think girls should be like that and not get supressed.

Maa mujhe aane de iss duniya mein, mujhe bhi yeh zindagi jeene de

Phool hoon tere aangana ki, aise mujhe chod na de

Main na aaongi toh yeh sansar ruk jayega

Bhagwan ko bhi meri zaroorat hai, varna yeh kalyug kaise jayega

Girl Power😳

It is heartening to see all members standing for "beti".The word paraayaa dhan should be banned, but some of the regressive shows on our channels enforce this belief about paraayaa dhan.If I am not wrong one of the shows has even the title paraayaa dhan.
Aishwarya's dad struck the right note.Someone had to say it.Who would not be proud of daughters and granddaughters like Anwesha,Aishwarya,Soniya and Prakkiti?

I donot think a daughter becomes "parayi" All these words "paraya dhan" and "kanya daan" etc. make me cringe. The daughter will always be welcome by her family and be there to support both families no matter what.

I would like to say lots of thing.

First, I strongly agree that ladki kabhi parayi hoti hi nahi hai. Because when I think of my sister who is married 4 years back. We always miss her but found her whenever we need. My parents now give more importance to her and this is because they think that she should never feel that we are paraye for her. She have equal rights even though she is married. Also if she has any problem in her personal life, my parents and I are always there to support her.
So I believe that ladki to lakshmi/sararawati hote hai, jiske puja ke jate hai.
So great to discuss about this post. I enjoyed reading the individual opinion.

Thanks all.
