Update from CU live show in Kolkata

The Telegraph, a leading English Daily, was organising a School Children's carnival in Swabhoomi Kolkata that came to a close yesterday. As a part of the grand finale this Sunday, TTIS had organized a show featuring the members of Amul SVOI Chhote Ustaad's family. I consider myself lucky that I could attend the show.😃 Here is an update of the show on what I saw.😛

First - Who and all were present on the occasion?😛
Among the CU judges, we had Kunal Ganjawala performing😃
Abaas was also supposed to be there, but was not present😭
VOI adult series winner Ishmeet stepped into Abhaas's shoes😊
The talented participants from the show included Anwesha, Aishwarya, Jayant, Abeer, Areeb, Vyom, Prakriti and Geetashree😃😃😃

I was a little late for the show, and when I entered, Kunal had already started performing..😭 It was a pretty hot Kolkata afternoon - the sun was strong but neither Kunal nor the crowd seemed to mind at all..😛 They just loved dancing to Kunal's beats.. I was hearing Kunal live for the first time and I must say that he has a very very powerful voice!👏 Lots of energy and he just knows how to sway the crowd to his favor.👍🏼. From where I listened, he gave rocking performances to some of the chart toppers like 'Dupatta Tera', 'Bheege Honth Tere', 'Salaam Namaste'...😊 The crowd kept pressing for 'Masha-Allah' and he obliged...😃 With little orchestra in the background for this song, you could really feel his tonal strength... He had other commitments for the evening, so he performed first to leave early..😭 His final performance for the show was 'Kaal Dhamaal' when he invited all the little kids in the front on the stage to dance with him.😛. And all enjoyed this fab performance..👏 The cute thing was that, in between his songs.. he would keep repeating that they are from VOI Chotteee Ustaads (in the similar musical fashion how Abhaas uses the phrase in the show😛), and then would ask the crowd to complete 'Aaj ke chhote, kal ke ustaad'.😆.

Before Kunal left, he called all the chhote ustaads and Ishmeet on the stage.. 😃When he introduced the kids, he quized the audience to spontaneously tell the voting ID of the kids..😛 Most of the junta failed miserably in that.😆.. But overall, he set the very positive tone of the rocking evening to follow!😃

What followed next was some talent display by the local school kids..😊 They were all good👏 but I was awaiting eagerly for the chhote ustaads to perform..😛 It was good that before the chhotes started performing, the organizers ensured to clear the crowd near the stage so that all could watch the cute little kids even from the back... 😳

The next person to perform was Voice on India winner Ishmeet on 'Dard-e-disco'.. He performed well😊, but somehow I felt the punch in the voice missing for this kind of song... I still maintain that his voice is more suitable for the softer numbers...😳 From here on, he took up the compering of the show (as Abhaas was absent😭) and started interacting with the kids.. 😃

Among the chhotes - the one to start was the sabse chhota of them all - Pendulum Abeer..😃. Oh, this kid is really cute..😛 and even here as he sang, he constantly swinged in his pendulum style..😆. And the way he spoke, that was so cute as well..😳 He performed on 'Ek din teri raahon me' and 'Tu hi meri shab hai'... Both of them sounded very good😃, esp the 2nd rendition was very very powerful...👏 Ishmeet asked him since he was singing the romantic songs so well, there must be an inspiration for him..😆 and he blushed cutely in denial😳😛

The next one of perform was Mishtee Geetashree... She has a very cute smile😛 and sizzled with 'Yeh ishq haaye' and 'Qe sara sara sara'..😃. This girl has a real sweet voice😛, but I felt that esp for the first song, she sang a beat faster than required... She was good to listen to...😊

Bol Beckham Jayant was the next one to appear, and seemed to be a big favorite with the crowd!👏 I must say that this guy is very stage free and seemed to enjoy his performances a lot..😃. He started off with 'In dinon dil mera' and sang it beautifully..😳. And then the stunner followed from him in the form of 'Main jahaan rahoon'..👏. The crowd completely went crazy with this one..😃 He received a lot of appreciation for the song and along with in came in the unanimous request of once more..👏 He obliged and repeated the mukhda of the song..😃. The crowd wanted even more, and so Jayant finally performed the mukhda from his fav ghazal 'Hungama hai kyon barpa' as well...😊

The next ustaad to perform was Pahadi Dragon Prakriti..😊 This girl has a real cute smile😛 and performed to the popular number 'Beedi Jalaile'.. I could see a lot of children dancing to the song and enjoying.😃. Unfortunately Prakriti was not feeling too well and could not sing her 2nd song...😕

The next one to chup chap come on stage was Chup chup Vyom...😆 He was far from being chup chup😆, and talked the most of all the kids on stage..😆. He seemed to be a extremely confident kid on stage...😃 The way he was talking and interacting with the crowd, one could be confused at a point if it was Ishmeet or him who was hosting the show...😛 Vyom understood the pulse of the crowd and started his performance with the very popular number 'Jab se tere naina'...😳 Ishmeet joined him at the end of the song.😊. He did well, but was better in his next song, which was ofcourse his home ground.. Md. Rafi songs...😃 He indeed rocked with 'Badan pe sitaare lapete huye', and crowd seemed to love it all...👏

The local favorite and extremely talented Lady Jasoos Anwesha was the next to perform..😃. She was very well received with the crowd and said that she was feeling great to be back in her city after long..😃. Then 2 girls from her school went near the stage, and said that they were all routing for her..😳👏. Ishmeet told her that why doesnt she start with a bengali song, and she agreed... Of course the song to follow was 'Aami je tomar- Mere dholna'..👏. and she was as perfect in the live show as she had been in the VOI episode..👍🏼. This song received a standing ovation from the entire crowd... She was truly awesome in this one..😃. Her next song was again another solid performance 'Barso re megha megha', and everyone loved it equally... 👏Ishmeet told the crowd that such a talented singer must must reach the finals😛 and its unfortunate that she is coming is scaryland in so many weeks..😭 He almost took the promise from the crowd to vote more for her, so that it is not repeated..😳. I wished that she sang a song or 2 more, but that was not to happen...😕

Biking Khan Areeb came running in after this😆, and he seemd to be in a very jovial mood..😛. Ishmeet scolded him a bit😆 also that he was not singing well, and he promised that he is going to improve (I hope so too😳).. On asking him what songs is he going to sing, he said that let it be a secret😉 and he will reveal it gradually as he sings... He gave a hint that he is going to sing a song of Kunal sir..😛. The crowd started guessing, but no one could guess the correct song..😆 Then he started with 'Yaar ko maine mujhe yaar ne' and did a very good job out of it..👏 When I heard him this time, I felt that his problem with his voice (that was repeating for the past 2 weeks or so😕) seemed to have healed and he seemed relaxed..😃 The other song that he performed was the high beat 'Dil da malma hai dilbar' and again the kids were all there to dance with him on the song..😃

The final ustaad to perform was Style Ben Aishwarya..😳. and she came to the stage and greeted the crowd in bengali and the crowd loved it.😛.. I guess she would have learnt it from Anwesha, who seemed to be very close friends during the entire show..😊. She gave an awesome performance with 'Kehna hi kya'...👏 and was really really good at the higher notes...😃 She received a lot of applause from the audience and surely seemed like the other local favorite...😛 The other song that she sang was 'Aisa jadoo daala re'... I wished she chose a better song than this😕.. Somehow - this did not seem to suit her voice...😕 As she finished her song, Ishmeet came and said that she is the other one who really really deserved to be in the finals.. On asking the crowd that who should win,😉 the verdict that came from the crowd was 'there should be a tie between Anwesha and Aishwarya'..👏. Ishmeet said 'yeh to sabse achhi baat hogi'...😃

As all the 8 kids had finished performing, they all come to the stage together...😛 and along with Ishmeet, they all gave the final performance of the show in 'Mauja hi mauja'...😃 It was great..👏 they were all dancing and singing, and the entire crowd was with them...😃 I wish that the show continued further😳, but then all good things do come to an end.. and so did the show....😭 As I walked out of the venue, I had a satisfied smile on my face, and memories of a very enjoyable show!😳😛😃

wow jaya thanks soooooooooo much for taking the pains to give us the whole update..i swear yaar what a rocking show it was...padhke hi pata chalta hai...and great the crowd thinks there shud be a tie between anwesha n aishwariya and even i feel so...how i wish that cud happen 😳 ...but i think no singing reality show contestants have given me as much happiness n satisfaction as these chhote ustaads 👏

@Jadoo-bhai - I also want to listen to Anwesha more... 😛 But I think coming to scaryland frequently demoralizes the kids... 😕 Instead, I would want all the kids to give solo performances on both days... 😃 Us jagah pe format gadbad hai... 😕

@Yipee - I agree that this is the bestest ever talent show season ever... 👏 None of the other programs had so many talented kids and all trying to outdo each other... 😳 As to whether there should be a tie or not, well I do want Aishwarya in the finals 😛 , but I want my Anwesha to win finally 😳

haan jaya woh hum 3 claps for anwesha n 2 for aishwariya se hi samajh gaye the😆😆...jokes apart well for me too anwesha is slightly aboce aishwariya but i really pray we have both of them in the finals...i wud be sooooooo happy if that happens
