Kunal was one of the most blunt and truethful judge. He made some valid points like judgement of music talent show should not be given to general public, where regionalism plays very important role.

But do you think aadesh and lalit will make fair decision if selection is left on them?

Not at all - judges have their own favorites... I think the public is better in this particular case as this panel of judges is showing extreme favoritism... Its better to have lakhs of people select their favorite rather than a group of 5 people...

The only problem with the judges is that they are on teams. We never witnessed such drama and opposition against someone else before when each judge use to appoint points independently. I think if that was continued, with the presence of ALL 5 judges giving the contestants mentorship throughout the competition, a reality singing show would ACTUALLY get a deserving winner. And Kunal said that best. The MOMENT public voting started in all these reality shows, never has there been a worthy winner chosen.

Aadesh and Lalit are no doubt doing injustice to Prithvi contestants because they've just been so preoccupied with promoting their own team and they have not shown any positive regard for the other team. But that's just because of the divide and the format that has been created. Obviously, Alka and Abhijeetji are managing their roles well but in sincerity, public voting should NEVER decide a winner of anything. Seriously. Throughout the auditions and the pre-bhemisaal 12 phase, I never felt there was any form of unfairness done to anyone. Sure, there were certain eliminated contestants that had good potential, but at the end, our chosen final 12 were superb. Look at the downfall that has been created by public voting now.

Dal me kuch kala hai...!
Kunal's comments may be with Gajji's blessings to cool down sentiments. But will Gajji desides and adopt judges voting?? 😉 😉 😉

actually along with old format most of this singers would be out.... because in that format the film songs were not tried.... it was much tougher competition than this.... and i doubt most of this contestants would even try to participate in that format 😆

Wasn't it supposed to be 50% judges and 50% public votes? I remember reading that somewhere, around the time the studio episodes started. I'm guessing it was changed when they introduced the 'gurukul' concept.

The judges have their own bias and favorites so it wouldn't be entirely with the set of judges we have to select the winner. Let's not forget some of the good singers they eliminated early on.

Maybe the 50/50 format would work the best. But who knows?

I just know that when voting used to be purely based on musically-knowledgeable panel of judges, great singers came out of it and became successful. Examples include Kunal G himself, Sunidhi C, Shreya G, etc. But for a while now, I have not heard of a singer (except for Abhijeet Sawant who seems to be doing pretty well) who have actually made a stand post musical contest..

Then again, these shows are a source of revenue now for the channels due to the public voting involved in them. People take more interest in watching them knowing well that they can vote for their favorite all the times. So if you take away that aspect, the viewership is bound to suffer..

So perhaps we should do a 60-40% split in the favor of judges-public.. Then again, at the end, there is going to be only one winner and that's about it!

Cheers,
Sana~

Agreed!! Thats how SRGMP the originals ones used to work.
But ever since the public voting thing ...its just a mess.
Esp cuz the judges who are composers(1/2 of them) are the ones who give these singers songs to sing!

Judges should choose and the audience should appreciate it.!

I don't know why everbody is blaming the janta for the eliminations. Janta is spending money in sending votes for their favourites, from which the producers/channel/phone companies are making lot of money. It happens so that someone gets less votes so he/she is eliminated. It is just simple if you want your favourite to stay on the show send more votes.

We should understand that this is a voting contest masked in the form of a singing contest. If anybody has to be blamed it should be the judges who supposedly pick the best of the best talent available before presenting them to the Janta(They are now mentors of the participants, so they are also responsible for their performances).
If the judges have done their job perfectly then why should there be any hue & cry over the eliminations. After all one who exits is the best and one who remains is also the best and ultimately we will have only one winner. When they have selected the best possible among the field why are they whining now.

Kunal ganjawala, or for that matter any other singer/actor/music director should realise that it is because of the Janta/Fans who spend money for watching their movies/buying their CD/cassettes, that they have achieved their name, fame, money, popularity and it is their support, adulation which makes them the stars they are.
