Jaya, I agree with you. This gesture is indeed commendable. Abhijeet is basically very good and upright at heart. He talks from his heart - and that's the problem.
These days people seldom have that uprightness to call a spade a spade. In order to be politically correct, one forgets to nurture his own identity. Abhijeet has one, and that is what creates problem for some.
Since the question of Diwakar came out a few posts back, I would just like to say that if Abhijeet's fault was that he did not allow himself to be swayed over by emotions (for a blind guy) while judging a "Singing' competition, I just wish that we have 100s of such Abhijeet's in the judges seat. Our music will become much better.
As it is not someone's fault that someone is born blind, it is equally not one's fault to be born normal. If being normal automatically disqualifies you to be a better singer (which was actually the case shown by the king of music-copier), than one has to admit that Abhijeet was wrong when he said that when he listens to a singer, he closes his eyes (so that he judges only singing, and not whether one is abnormal or normal) and listens. He should not have done that - because that was not correct!
Also, there is a difference between someone donating from U.S. and Abhijeet doing the same in India. Media follow his actions in India. Some way or the other it will come out. And if he is guilty of proudly announcing his donation, I again wish there are more and more people like him, who would proclaim but nevertheless would do something meaningful. That way atleast the money will be accountable to some extent!
