Agam instantly looked back. He was shocked at what he saw. Nimrit was sitting on the floor and the hot iron-box was there on her left foot. She was crying non-stop. Agam immediately removed the iron-box off her foot and kept it aside. A deep red burn mark was imprinted on her foot skin.
"Agamji", Nimrit was sobbing uncontrollably, "my foot is burnt".
"Don't cry Nimrit.. Don't cry. It will be alright. Try to stand", Agam tried to calm her but his own heart was freezing seeing the deep burn on her foot.
Agam put his hands on Nimrit's arms and pulled her up softly to make her stand. Nimrit stood up somehow but collapsed immediately. Her feet were burning with pain and they could not carry her weight.
"Agamji, I cannot walk", she continued crying frenziedly. Agam's heart was melting seeing her in pain. He immediately carried her in his arms and stood up.
He was not done with buttoning his shirt but right now, he didn't care. He carried her out of the room and walked hurriedly towards the hall.
Nimrit was clinging to him and crying hiding her face in his chest. Agam descended the stairs. He screamed out, "Ribban Aunty.."
Hearing his scream, Nimrit pulled out her face from his chest. He placed her softly on the sofa with utmost care. Nimrit's eyes were red of pain and continuous sobs. She looked towards the dining table. Her mom and everyone else were rushing towards the hall.
She called out feebly, "Mamma.."
