This is a copy of the mail i sent to sandeep sikand. tell me what i've missed out on and i'll include those points in my next mail.
Hi. It was reported that you intend to end Aisa Des Hai Mera. That is a very shocking piece of news to regular viewers of the show like me and my family. We love the show and think that it is really different from the usual shows on Indian television today. It has an excellent cast, with Kanwaljeet, Benjamin Gilani, Kirron Kher, Pavan Malhotra and Beena doing an excellent job of their roles. The lead couple, Gaurav Chopraa and Saumya Tandon, have explosive chemistry and have the potential of becoming as popular as other screen pairs such as Rajeev Aamna. In fact, we used to regularly watch Kasam Se but shifted to Aisa Des Hai Mera after Gaurav Chopraa entered the show. The show moves at a very fast pace and the level of spoken Hindi on the show is amazingly high. Also, the show does not have false drama and the production values are refreshingly real. The show is frequently shot outdoors and the editing is also quite good.
Perhaps you feel that the show may be of good quality but is not very popular, so you should end it. Well i dont know how you calculate your TRPs, but this show has seen an increase in viewership and has a dedicated fan following. I personally know a lot of people who watch this show, but i can offer you a wider random sample. There are many fans of this show whom i have discovered online. They come from diverse age groups and different countries. A random net search might convinve you of the popularity and goodwill that this show enjoys and a little work on publicity might ensure that that goodwill translates into better brand recognition for the show. While Ek Ladki Anjaani Si does not enjoy a similar amount of goodwill, especially after the change in the lead actor.
If the time slot is a problem then you can perhaps work around it and transfer the show to a weekend slot or a one hour weekly slot. Does it not make more sense to invest effort in and give time to a show that is already on air and has a very loyal fan following?
Thank you for the time it took you to read this mail... and if it helps to save an excellent show, the effort has been worth it. Shvetal.
