Here's my take:
All this week, we witnessed Samay's double standards when it comes to his wife and his sisters... He is a very liberal brother but a very conservative husband...
When Rusty dressed up in that western outfit and came down to the party with a drink in her hand, Samay was very upset... However, we saw earlier how he defended his sister's style of dressing and he never said anything to Sweety when she was trying to force the drink down Rusty's throat right after the wedding... Do you think his behavior is justified? Why such a difference in mentality when it comes to his wife?
Hmm..I don't think his behaviour is justified, but he has been used to seeing his sister doing all these sorts of things and he thinks that this is perfectly alright for her to do so. However, since Rusty is new and she somewhat represents Samay, he thinks that to maintain their respect in society, Rusty should be dignified and cultured (thus wearing decent clothes).
I think there is a double standard in this household, where the girls of the house can do anything they want, but not the daughter-inlaw. I think there is a difference because usually the daughter-in-law is the most viewed upon society...
Do you think that men in real life have such double standards when it comes to their wife and sisters? If you look around you, what do you see? Has their mentality changed over time or are they still very conservative?
Yes, I do think men in real life have double standards when it comes to their wife and sisters. Sisters are representative of the whoel family, while the wife is the representative of only her husband. The wife has to maintain her husband's image and self-respect.
