What a tragedy for the love story of Shekhar and Lali!!

In English, my favorite love stories are The Bridges of Madison County and Wuthering Heights. In Hindi, the writers of Agle Janam gave us viewers one of the best love stories I had ever seen on the Indian screen- that of Shekhar and Lali. It was a love story like none other. While the former two stories ended in tragedy, we hope that this story will be different and end in happiness. Surely, all love stories in the world need not end in tragedy.

I truly appreciate the Agle Janam writers for giving us the Shekhar-Lali love story. It was a story of deep and unshakeable love and trust. (One of my favorites scenes was when Shekhar makes Lali confess her love for him. The other was when Lali's world crashed around her after Ranvijay declared he had slept with her on her wedding night. A devastated Shekhar stumbles out of the mansion, and then- he returns, despite the doubts, to once more hold Lali in his arms, to love and comfort her.)

Everybody tried but nobody could make a dent in their love story except just once-when Lali confesses to killing Ratna, that even Shekhar believes it. But his love was always greater than his hate -he stops just short of shooting her and then weeps out of sheer helplessness that love has entwined him in its grip so much that he cannot hate. (The same cannot be said of Loha who really pulled the trigger on Sumitra after he came to know that Ratna had died at her hands.)

I wonder what has happened to Shekhar now. (Next week we will probably come to know.)

But what's to happen to Shekhar in the five years that Lali is gone? Will he go mad with grief for shooting his beloved (and believing that he killed her)? Or as a great lover, will he want Laali to come and haunt him (like Heathcliffe in Wuthering Heights asking for the dead Catherine to come and haunt him).

OK, 5 years later, Lali and Shekhar meet again. In a new twist maybe it is Lali, who sees Shekhar first, and her love grows anew - "but who is this strange man for whom I feel this yearning!" (Or am I asking for too much here!!!)

On the other hand, maybe Shekhar sees Lali first and thinks he is seeing a ghost. (She'll likely be an educated Lali in a mini skirt by now, hopefully.)

Still I'm curious about the emotions they will feel for each other after five years (in reel life). Shekhar's luv will remain, what about Lali's after losing her memory. Their love is supposed to transcend everything (heart recognizes heart and yearn to be joined again).

Shekhar will probably have to woo her all over again, (to jog her memory of him and their child?) Won't that be nice? Wasn't he playing the flute when she saw him for the very first time?

And now ladies and gentlemen, we are awaiting with great impatience for five long years to pass in the next few months!!!
