chabi's break: other possible reasons

Hey all,

Since last few days we all had been really sad about chaabi's break and made all possible efforts to bring it back...and mostly blamed it on Star Plus...

As such i don't have any respect for Star Plus ( coz you name a worse/torture serial and star plus has it) but telecasting Chaabi was indeed one good decision so it really seems pointless in pulling it out...

But the point i am making is : Star plus never promoted Chabi in the first place , but the cast of Chabi esp Varun and Suhasi too never made extra efforts to promote it. For ex. in salam-e-ishq concert during valentine's day, everyone danced with their respective onscreen partners while suhasi danced with some other guy even when Varun was very much present...They never appeared together in any event to creat a buzz about Chaabi..while i see many ekta lead pairs coming in different shows to promote their jodi and show as a whole...

Next imp point is everybody from chaabi has been quite about this break does it mean their is still some hope or that they don't seem to care as Suhasi has been busy with her ads, music videos and film and Varun with other serials and reality shows ...so why would they care with a 1 hr weekly show (probably not paying them musch also) when they have so much in their hands??

u do have a point....it would have been nice to see varun and suhasi outside the show...promoting it like other lead actors do. and they cannot completely blame it on star plus. becuz other shows are promoted in other forums like newspapers, sbs etc. i never remember chabhi cast and crew doing anything much to promote it...not even when the show started. as for the cast not speaking to the mdia abt the break even im surprised. only person who did speak was nupur, even varun feigned ignorance. i can only conclude that varun didnt want to talk abt it and prolly the rest of the cast also dont as they dont know what will happen. so better keep quiet till they know something for sure.
another point is regarding the trps...the show has been obviously given a break due to low trps...for that we can blame other factors like slot, lack of promotions, ipl but also to tell u the truth the show has been disappointing since after the vasudha episodes. since then the show hasnt been handled properly. for instance sandeep never made a proper effort to woo urmi before he proposed. after he proposed their relationship wasnt shown properly...they seemed to be mere fillers. only when they wanted to show something dramatic like sujata or rasik finding out did they show sandeep and urmi thruout the episode. else we had to strain ourselves to catch a glimpse of them. why so? was it becuz the makers didnt know what to do? or was it becuz varun and suhasi were not devoting time to the show? the situation was such in may that most of us were planning to quit watching by may end or june mid if things didnt improve on the show. so if die-hard fans of the show were disappointed...what can we say of other ppl?
despite all the disappointments in the show the only reason im fighting for it is becuz i believe it has so much potential which was never exploited properly. if the show gets another chance i just hope the makers get it right this time and dont make us regret putting our time and efforts for the show.

you are 100% right shreya...the show was definitely not handled properly...the show had so much potential and so much life till Deewali episode..but after that in an attempt to show every phase in a love relationship, they messed up big time and the show definitely lost much of it's charm...also we viewers were waiting to see the proposal scene so desperately that our expectations were quite high and we did not get what we all wanted to see...very true when you said we were about to leave watching by May end..i can only imagine what the TRPs must be in India then...

Also like to add that those filler scenes between urmi and sandeep really made me irritated and i think they should have shown something more substantial than mere intentional fillers...in fact their love story did not come out in the best possible way..

Oh! its not a FF after all.
I think u guys are, right after confession episode it did, lose its charm a bit but I think the reason for that was that during deewali time the episodes were too good and then we expected each episode to be of that kind.Though after that also we had couple of good episodes like the Zoya's exam and the holi one and also the one in which Sujata comes to know about U-S and 4 vellas are always so funny they keep u gripped to TV no matter how the episode.
And talking of the reasons for being given a break I think its just because Starplus hates the show or something because there are many shows with lesser TRPs than ACHPM in spite of better promotion and time slot but still they are on air.

Well put Ksh, I agree 100% with your entire post. Truth is, for whatever reason, neither Star nor the production team nor the actors themselves promoted this show....now with a cast that size, one would have expected an interview fairly regularly from someone in the team....

Whatever the reason, they had better get it right this time, assuming our ray of hope turns out to be true. This battle we are putting up should be for something worthwhile...

Shrey, the problem is economics - it costs money to make a show, and if Star put Chabi in a "dead" slot they will pay less for it...the production house will have less cash to play with, maybe even make a loss...therefore it becomes pointless for them to carry on.

It's a catch 22 situation - Chabi would get good TRPs if it was in a good slot & promoted properly, but to get it into a good slot it needs to have good TRPs 😕...so now the only option is really for Star to take a chance and put Chabi in a prime time slot (and pay the production house good money for it) and promote it...and hope that episodes are amazingly good so that they draw in the viewers.

That's why the production house and the actors will have a big part to play if this show comes back - it wont have long to make its mark - they will need to get out there & start publicising it too.

actually i feel differently...they promised to show us various phases of their relationship..but they turned out to be empty promises with s/u getting such less screen time. i remember we would joke how pammi and sukka had become the lead couple.

as for the proposal...yes expectations were running high...but then it all went phus. not becuz there was something wrong with the writing...but becuz the direction and editing was all wrong with all the wrong camera angle. it was as though a child had directed and edited it.

true! very true!

Agreed Nisha...also adding to that is that Chaabi has not got good sponsership as compared to other shows...and it can also be partly because of the slot being dead..I have seen it's sponserers as LIC and lifestyle...i don't remember more...But the fact still remains that no one from Chaabi team tried to get it to the audience...Varun being a known actor could have done it..And i believe that Chaabi had the potential to convert a dead slot into a high TRP slot but i guess they did not dare to take up the challenge... and kept on just dealing with the situation somehow..remember what Rajat tokas and PRC did to Friday evenings ?? at that time Star Plus was sinking in the weekend slots..

Indeed ...but the show was definitely run by our very own four vellas 😊..they had more scenes than any one else...yippie One more reason why this show is unique: supporting cast has more role than lead cast!!!

yup...i agree...see the problem was chabhi till the vasudha episodes was adding viewers...it could be the light hearted feel of the show, the characters or actors...it was not always abt s/u...i think ppl got hooked their love story much after the show started becuz during the early days the love story was non-existent.
but after the vasudha episode they were not even able to retain viewers forget about adding viewers. the trps werent so bad initially but kept falling.
yes rajat tokas and bbb turned around star's weekend slot. chabhi guys though had a tougher job becuz in all fairness most ppl wouldnt be home at that time. while during prc's time ppl would be home...they only had to get ppl to tune into it. but the least chabhi guys could have done was retain its viewers by giving a good quality show and keep talking to star for a better slot. now which channel would risk giving a better slot to a show whose trps are sinking? the least they could have done was be consistent. also ask the channel to promote the show at the new slot like they promote other shows.
