A Confused Father .....

Poor Aditya ………….. I can sympathise with him upto a point. But not when he attacks his children. That's unforgivable.

He's actually a victim caught in the coils of his python-like fate. His introspection and constant wondering as to why he's getting punished in such a way is clearly showing his turmoil. Much of it is his own doing. I am making no reference to Antara here. She's purity personified.

His unnecessary desire to please his sister's in-laws, his lavish expenditure on her wedding was most unrealistic. He is not cutting cloth according to his pocket. He took a second job and even that couldn't cover the expenses. So he went to a thug for money. That was the limit. Which common man does that? Why did he want to project a grand picture of himself? Why did he have to bend backwards so much to accommodate Arti's new family? Sam's father naturally increased his demands the minute he knew that they were being met instantly. Why didn't he do what Sam told him and have an austere wedding?

If Sam made a mistake in the bank, why did he cover up for him? Sam is a grown-up man. Besides he doesn't have a couple of young kids to take care of. By taking the rap for Sam, Adit is in effect doing him a disservice. A young couple like Sam and Arti can take of themselves. Does Adit believe he has four children?

While he was sugary on the phone with Sam and Arti, why did he bark at poor Abhi? He doesn't to tell Sam the truth so that he doesn't get worried then why didn't he show the same mercy to his children? Why didn't he spell out the details to Sam instead of stopping Antara's sessions? How very very foolish and how unfair on those little children! Why must he sacrifice Antara? Why should the children be exposed to his worries and harshness while the adults are enjoying themselves in Goa?

And Sam……….didn't he know that one day his wrong doings will be found out? Why didn't he take care of this contingency?

Oh…. What a mess!!!

Skep, how very true!!! In actuality a more responsible father would put his immediate family first and focus on what is best for them and their future, NOT going all out in an egotistical manner where he had to prove something so completely useless (as in the false illusion that he can pay for anything they demanded) to Sameer's bigoted parents!!!
Very, very, very annoying, and to be honest not really realistic in my opinion.
Swaps :)

Yes I agree too wholeheartedly with every word written down.
Such an unholy mess indeed and the poor children the sacrificial lambs...

Swaps, Yes true......... while we always put children first, this dude thinks otherwise. Actually he's under so much pressure that he can't think straight. He's certainly self sacrificing and loves his children but the minute a crisis crops up where do his virtues disappear to? I hope it's just one aberration and in today's episode, he thinks properly again.

Well said Skep. Throughout this whole Aarti wedding sequence, I found that Aarti was terribly selfish - the clothes, the jewelery...she went overboard (remember she wanted diamond earrings?)...Aditya should have put his foot down...he has spoilt Aarti...what was the point of all of those expenses, in the end they just eloped any way...
Thanks for a great post Skep!

It makes me wonder does he put his silly sister ahead of Angel? Since the wedding never took place, surely he must have saved some of the money?
He talked so nicely to his sister yestdy but then it was infuriating to see how he dragged Antara into the house. And my little Abhi ........ awwwwwwwww

Confusion arises from conflicting emotions & if our brain processes too much of such information we loose our capacity to choosewhat is right & what is wrong.I think Aditya is suffering from affective disorder & needs to set his priorities. He has to think of Aarti's alienated in laws, His friend who also happens to be his sister's husband,His wife who left luxury to lead a contented life yet she is not getting that either, his son who is growing too early for his age & now thinks he is being ignored, his daughter who adds smile but also incurs cost , is he & his wife giving too much importance to the special kid, & finally the most infringing one is despite putting heart & soul "Is he fighting a lost battle?"

People need introspection in such scenario & best thing will happen if you can get a mentor to modify your thoughts.Vidya suffered from same emotional dilemma but had her mother as her mentor who maneuvered her intellections in right direction which eventually resulted her returning back home & dropping the idea of aborting the baby. Now its her turn to be a mentor.

Skep - unfortunately, this is not too far from the truth, I do know of people who put their siblings ahead of their spouses (at the least) & their children (at the most). Aditya should tell Aarti to live her own life & move on now..he has his family to take care of.
