La Douleur Exquise : The pain of wanting the love of someone you can't have in your life. Unrequited love.
His love was not the sweet fragrance of earth after rain, the serenade sung by a lover for his beloved in the dark, the soothing breeze of the summer. It was the thorns in the roses that cut skin deep, the blizzards of Antarctica, fiery flames that burned the hearts. His love was the hailstorm, the crimson that resembled the blood.
She was the quiet, petite girl he had fallen in love with, and the destiny ensured she was the forbidden fruit he was to long until his last breath. Her unreturned affection was not what tormented him, it was her indifference, her eyes lacking the shine they held for him once.
How was he going to live?
Author's Note:
This is a very, very dark story, and despite some lighthearted moments, warning is essential. Some of the chapters in the beginning are written by Niki (mistoftheshadows) and I've credited her on the chapters she's written. The characters in the fic do not belong to me.
