Recently Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal hit the big screen to mixed response but didn’t manage to pull in the audience to the cinema halls for a long time. However, one thing that has stood out in the film is Kartik Aaryan's performance.
Film critic and trade expert, Joginder Tuteja says, “Kartik Aaryan had a double role in Love Aaj Kal and he came up with a mature act that needed him to go against the tide. In time to come, he will get the right acknowledgment for the effort that he has put in the film. It is not uncommon for some performances to live on and stand the test of times. This has happened to the best of the talent and the youngest of the tribe as well,” we couldn’t agree more.
And well, Kartik isn't alone though when it comes to actors delivering a good performance in a film which hasn't really caught fancy of the audiences. Trade expert Taran Adarsh points out some of the recent performances, that deserve a pat while the film proved to be a lack-lusture. Let's take a look.

Kartik Aaryan in Love Aaj Kal
Kartik proved himself with Love Aaj Kal as an actor. It was a very difficult role to portray, there were two roles to portray and he had to portray it very differently. However managed to get both his roles bang on. Kartik has proved over the time that he is slowly emerging as the favorite actor of the youth of course at the same time he is liked by the family audience also. The opening numbers of Love Aaj Kal were very good of course, where it opened to a double digit that too on a working day but the film was not appreciated and the dip was noticed on day 2. Nevertheless Kartik did his job and as an actor proved his mettle.

Shah Rukh Khan in Swades
Swades did not work during it's time but people have liked Shah Rukh's performance. Today, the film is being considered as a classic while Shah Rukh Khan's performance is also looked at as his best ever. Shah Rukh has proved his versatility time and again, starting with Darr and Baazigar… and then went on to become loverboy of the nation. But he continued to do films like Swades and Chak De! India. He was never scared of the box-office collections and his performance was A-class in this socio-drama.

Ranbir Kapoor in Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year
As far as Ranbir Kapoor is concerned, Rocket Singh was an important film in his career. Surely Rocket Singh did not work at the box-office, but that didn’t bring a scratch to his filmography. His performance stole the show, Ranbir was flawless in the film. It requires lot of courage to take up such a quirky film at an early stage of one’s career. The actor could have played it safe as he had some back-to-back hits before this (Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani and Bachna Ae Haseeno), but a true artiste would pick roles over monetary outcome.

Ranveer Singh in Lootera
Lootera may have not worked but anyone who sees Ranveer's performance, would agree he was brilliant in the film. Every actor wants to do different role in his career and Lootera was a challenge for Ranveer to do. Despite bagging a YRF commercial like Gunday, he wanted to prove himself as an actor, and Lootera rightfully did so. His acting chops in this period love story was amazing.
