Don 3 to finally begin filming with Ranveer Singh and Vikrant Massey

After facing multiple delays and much speculation, Don 3 is finally moving towards production. As per a recent update, the film is expected to begin shooting in September 2025. Ranveer Singh and Vikrant Massey are set to headline the project, which will be helmed by Farhan Akhtar.

Ranveer Singh will take over the role of Don, previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in the 2006 and 2011 versions. This change marks a significant shift in the franchise, and all eyes are now on how Ranveer will approach the role. Vikrant Massey, known for his work in smaller, character-driven films, will reportedly play the antagonist. This will be the first time the two actors will be seen facing off on screen.

Sources close to the production reveal that director Farhan Akhtar is in the final phase of wrapping up 120 Bahadur, a project that had delayed Don 3’s shoot. Singh, too, has completed a major portion of his other film Dhurandar. With both schedules aligning, the team is now ready to begin work on the action franchise.

A source told News18 Showsha, “Farhan is nearing the end of 120 Bahadur. Ranveer has also finished shooting for a major portion of Dhurandar. And so, they wouldn’t want to wait any longer before beginning filming for Don 3. The first schedule is scheduled for September this year. Both Ranveer and Vikrant Massey, who plays the antagonist, will be a part of it."

However, details about the female lead remain uncertain. Names like Sharvari and Kriti Sanon are in consideration, but there’s no confirmation yet. It is also unclear whether the leading lady will be involved in the initial schedule.

The upcoming shoot schedule of Don 3 will impact Massey’s other projects as well. Reports suggest that Dostana 2, produced by Karan Johar, will now be pushed to next year. Massey’s availability was reportedly dependent on Don 3 moving forward this year.

The film promises high-octane sequences. “Be assured that there will be a lot of stylised action sequences, including bike chases, between the duo. Vikrant, who has largely been associated with realistic, small-town roles, will appear in a markedly different avatar,” the source added.

Don 3 also marks a reunion of Ranveer and Vikrant after Lootera and Dil Dhadakne Do, though this time they will be in direct opposition.
