Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh and a host of Bollywood stars were quiet on the India – Pakistan war. The deafening silence from them has angered social media. We saw how boldly our TV fraternity supported the Armed Forces and called out Pakistani actors who said India’s attack was cowardly. People began to say that maybe our Bollywood stars feared losing their Instagram following or the audience that watches them in theatres in Muslim – dominated countries. Of course, actors got abused, death threats and vile comments from trolls as well.
But it looks like the silence of Bollywood has upset Maharashtra Police. It shared a picture with a message that is going viral since two days. The message says stars can safely get back to their social media now as the India – Pakistan tension is over. Now there is no fear of losing engagement or followers. Netizens are in shock seeing this on Maharashtra Police’s handle. Generally, Bollywood stars and Mumbai Police have a good rapport.

Every year, we see them perform at Umang Festival. The India – Pakistan conflict saw India bombing the militant camps in Bahawalpur in Pakistan. Around 10 members of Masood Azad’s family were killed. Then, Pakistan launched a drone attack on India. They targeted areas like Srinagar, Barmer, Jammu, Amritsar, Jodhpur, Pathankot, Udhampur and so on. Indian air force intercepted the drone attacks successfully but civilians in border towns had a tough time. There was also heavy firing at Poonch, which always bears the worst brunt of such incidents.

Is the focus on celebrity response too much in India given this was a political situation?
