The original Apne, released in 2007, wasn’t just another family drama. It brought Dharmendra together with sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in a heartfelt story about family pride, love and second chances. Years later, the announcement of Apne 2 stirred the same warmth. With Karan Deol joining the cast, it promised to be a rare cinematic moment where four generations of emotion, nostalgia and legacy collided on screen.

Dharmendra’s Final Days and Final Film

Dharmendra, who was 89, passed away on November 24 after a prolonged period of illness. He was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital just days before and was recovering at home when his condition suddenly worsened.

His last film will now be Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan and starring Agastya Nanda. The film releases on December 25, exactly one month after his death. The makers shared a heartfelt tribute, calling him a legend, portraying another.
