Amid growing speculation, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has firmly denied that his upcoming project with Shahid Kapoor is titled Romeo. The rumour started circulating after a leading entertainment portal claimed the name was final, but Bhardwaj quickly responded, calling the report false.
Taking to Instagram, the director shared a screenshot of the news story and wrote “Fake” over it. In a more direct comment under the post, he clarified, “No, it is not titled Romeo and I deny it here!!! It is still untitled.” The statement has put an end, at least for now, to the assumptions around the film’s name.
The project, which is said to feature Shahid Kapoor in a gangster role with a flamboyant twist, has been generating buzz for multiple reasons including its clash at the box office with two other big-budget films.
The release date, December 5, 2025 remains unchanged, despite earlier rumours suggesting a possible delay. A report from Bollywood Hungama quoted a source saying, “It was the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s next that took the December 5 slot first. The filming is going on at a steady pace, and the film has shaped up well. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is confident of the product and doesn’t feel the need to move from the date that he was the first one to reserve.” However, no official press note confirming this has been released yet.
What makes this release date significant is the major clash it brings. Shahid Kapoor’s film will compete directly with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and Prabhas’s The Raja Saab, both slated for the same day.
On Ranveer’s birthday, the makers of Dhurandhar unveiled the film’s first look, featuring not just Singh but also Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna. Meanwhile, The Raja Saab, a horror-comedy starring Prabhas, recently dropped its teaser. Directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory, the film will be released in five languages. With multiple big-ticket releases clashing on the same day, December 5, 2025, the box office is shaping up for a high-stakes showdown.
