Actor Vineet Kumar Singh, who made his debut with Pitaah in 2002, recently opened up about his career struggles in an emotional interview with Bollywood Bubble. Despite delivering critically acclaimed performances in films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Mukkabaaz, Vineet revealed that his journey has not unfolded as he once imagined.
While discussing the challenges of his career, Vineet addressed the ongoing debate around nepotism in Bollywood. “I don’t believe in the nepotism debate,” he stated, emphasizing that he doesn’t begrudge anyone their privilege. He explained, “A human’s child will be human, an animal’s child will be an animal, and seeds of a rose grow roses, nothing else. Why would you not care for the child you’ve given birth to? They’re just privileged to have a lineage in the film industry, to have people guiding them. It’s my luck that my father is a mathematician and my mother was a housewife.”
Reflecting on his early career, Vineet recalled shooting for the 2007 Pooja Bhatt-directed Dhokha during a period of uncertainty. He shared a poignant memory of seeing a young Alia Bhatt sitting on her father Mahesh Bhatt’s lap, highlighting the stark contrast in their career journeys. “I was struggling then, I am struggling today too. Alia is a fantastic actor but when you get opportunities on time, your life can change,” he said.
Vineet grew emotional, expressing his fatigue from years of struggle. “Log bolte hai sona tapke nikharta hai, lekin sona hamesha tapta hi rahe to kis kaam ka, kaun pehnega use? Bohot sara waqt tapne mei nikal gaya,” he lamented, indicating his desire to simply focus on good work.
After his 2002 debut, Vineet had a gap until his role in Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii in 2007. Despite his struggles, his performances in films like City of Gold, Ugly, and Bombay Talkies have been widely appreciated. He was last seen in the 2024 film Ghuspaithiya and will soon star in Match Fixing, Jaat, and Superboys of Malegaon.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt, who debuted with Student of the Year in 2012, continues her successful career. She was last seen in Jigra and will soon feature in Alpha and Love & War.
