The entire nation is facing a lockdown due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Amid the lockdown, iconic shows like Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan and BR Chopra's Mahabharat have made a comeback on Doordarshan.

Besides the mythological shows, the iconic show Shaktimaan is also set to return for a rerun on TV. Mukesh Khanna, who played the main character, reveals that he is planning to re-create the show for the younger generation.

Khanna told Mirror Online:

I have been planning to bring back Shaktimaan. If we would have not been hit by the deadly coronavirus, we would have made an announcement. Now, it's a miracle that Shaktimaan (which ran from 1997 to 2005) is back on TV.

Speaking of the casting of the reprised version of Shaktimaan, Khanna states that none of the big stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn or Akshay Kumar can fit in the role of Shaktimaan as they already have an image.

He also revealed that someone had suggested actor Tiger Shroff’s name to play the role as the modern-day Shaktimaan. However, Khanna feels that :

Tiger doesn't have the spiritual face that is needed to play the character.

It's not the action that made Shaktimaan popular, it was because of his superpowers, messages and values of life. All these big actors already have an image that will come in the way.

Mukesh Khanna also asserted that he is also considering playing Shaktimaan by himself again. "For me, Shaktimaan is still as iconic as it was in 1997. I am still known as Shaktimaan. It has to be made keeping me in it. It is difficult casting even for us.”

Also, in the same interview, Khanna also went on to slam Ekta Kapoor and stated that “The new version of Shaktimaan cannot be the way Ekta Kapoor made Mahabharata (in 2008) by putting a tattoo on Draupadi’s shoulder.” He also added that “Ekta Kapoor murdered Mahabharata” and he won’t let the recreation of Shaktimaan fall in a similar fate.
