Janhvi Kapoor to dive into action genre with Tiger Shroff in Raj Mehta’s next, Lag Jaa Gale

Actors Tiger Shroff and Janhvi Kapoor are set to collaborate for the first time in Lag Jaa Gale, an upcoming feature backed by Karan Johar and directed by Raj Mehta. According to reports by Pinkvilla, the film is expected to begin shooting towards the end of 2025, with a theatrical release planned for the second half of 2026.

This fresh casting has sparked industry buzz, particularly because Tiger and Janhvi haven’t shared screen space before. As per the Pinkvilla report, the film will be “a revenge-driven action love story,” balancing intense emotions with action-packed sequences. “Raj Mehta has been developing the script for some time now. He wanted a new on-screen pairing. After finalising the screenplay, he narrated it to Tiger and Janhvi, and both gave their nod without delay,” a source was quoted saying.

The film’s title, Lag Jaa Gale, reportedly reflects the emotional undertone embedded within the action-heavy plot. “Several names were considered, but the team felt Lag Jaa Gale best captured the soul of the story,” the source told Pinkvilla. Despite being rooted in the revenge drama genre, the story is expected to be layered with deep romantic elements.

According to the same report, preparations for grand-scale action scenes are already underway. The shoot is expected to commence in October 2025, once Tiger completes promotions for Baaghi 4, and Janhvi finishes her media commitments for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumari. These sequences will be designed keeping Tiger’s action background in mind, promising a visually charged experience.

Director Raj Mehta, known for hits like Good Newwz and JugJugg Jeeyo, returns with this new venture after a brief gap. Meanwhile, Karan Johar continues to juggle multiple projects. He recently attended the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Homebound, a Neeraj Ghaywan directorial starring Janhvi Kapoor, Vishal Jethwa, and Ishaan Khatter.

With a fresh lead pair and the backing of an established producer-director duo, Lag Jaa Gale is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about projects of 2025.
