Speculations around Ranveer Singh producing a reboot series of Shaktimaan have been doing the rounds ever since the earlier film version reportedly hit a roadblock. Several media reports even hinted that Ranveer might join hands with Mukesh Khanna — the original Shaktimaan — to revive the superhero saga. However, these rumours have now been denied by the actor’s team.
Ranveer's team confirmed to India Today that the actor has not acquired any rights to produce or act in a Shaktiman project. “The news about Ranveer Singh acquiring rights to develop a new superhero (Shaktiman) project as the producer holds no truth. He is currently busy shooting for Aditya Dhar’s next and then, Don 3 is also on the cards for him,” a source told the portal.
Amid the circulating reports, earlier remarks by Mukesh Khanna have added to the confusion. During a podcast with Shardul Pandit, Khanna reportedly mentioned that Ranveer Singh had shown strong interest — even desperation — to be part of Shaktimaan. He shared that while he had spoken highly of Ranveer's energy and dedication, especially after the actor spent nearly three hours with him discussing the role, he never actually confirmed him as the new Shaktimaan. Khanna said he respected Ranveer’s enthusiasm but remained unsure about whether the project should even happen, stating that he had lived with the character for three decades and felt deeply protective of it.
In another interaction with Bollywood Thikana, Khanna had revealed that Ranveer had personally met him, but Khanna felt the actor’s personality didn’t quite match the moral gravity required for the superhero. He added that Ranveer, despite being immensely talented and energetic, lacked the specific expression that Khanna associated with Shaktimaan. According to him, the actor might have felt hurt by the rejection.
Meanwhile, Ranveer is currently shooting for Dhurandhar, an intense spy thriller helmed by Uri director Aditya Dhar. The film is said to be loosely based on real-life intelligence operations led by NSA Ajit Doval, and stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
He is also set to begin filming for Don 3 in the second half of the year, with Vikrant Massey reportedly joining the cast.
