'This is the most challenging role I have got' - Guddi Maruti

Guddi Maruti, the very face of ‘Comedy’ in many successful films is now into Television. The actress, who was previously seen in a Disney show Agadam Bagdam Tigdam, now adorns a negative role in Star Plus new serial Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat.

Comedy has always been Guddi’s forte. So what made her take up this role instead? “It was more to break the monotonous roles that I was doing. And on a personal level, I was looking out for a change. This role gave me the perfect opportunity,” explains Guddi.

In Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat, Guddi plays the ever conspiring Chandrakala chachi, whose aim in life is to take away even the little money that the lead girl, Radha possesses. “My role in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat is very exciting for me as an artist, because I have worked in the industry for the last 25 years and I have never got such a nice and challenging role. This role has an element of comedy to it; it also has a negative aspect to it. So it is something completely different from what I have done in the past.”

She feels there’s no harm in switching over roles even though audience appreciated her in a completely different persona. “Now there are so many new artists doing comedy, so I thought I should take up the role as a challenge,” adds Guddi. Now that she is back, do we see her in any other projects too? “No, I am very busy with this show right now because the shoot takes up most of my time and I want to concentrate on this show and don't want to rush into anything new,” concludes this bubbly actress.

We hope Guddi casts her magic spell on small screen too!!
