'I am dusky & not a TYPICAL YRF heroine': Anupriya Goenka reveals LOSING Anushka Sharma's role in Sultan

Anupriya Goenka, known for her fine acting prowess in various Bollywood films, including Padmaavat, War, Tiger Zinda Hai and more, recently opened up on being offered Anushka Sharma's role in Salman Khan's super hit film 'Sultan,' and recalled being heartbroken because of the same.

In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kanan, the actress hails Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Padmaavat as the films that played an important role in her career and calls casting director Shanoo Sharma a key person in her life. Recalling being offered Salman Khan's Sultan, Goenka reveals, ''Maine Sultan ke liye bhi audition kiya tha for the main part, Anushka Sharma ke role ke liye. Tab wo log naye logo ko dhund rahe thhe. And I think mere 11-12 auditions huye thhe, jaise seedi chadte hai na, pehla, phir dusra, phir teesra. Kaafi kuch hua tha. Pehle ek audition hua tha, phir dusra hua tha, phir there was a music video test, dance test with Vaibhavi, reading with Ali, so kaafi kuch ek ek kar ke, jaise seedi chadte hai. That one month process was beautiful.''

''Thankfully that process was just of one month for me. Had it been for 6-7 months or for a year, then I would have been very anxious.'' Anupriya then reveals not knowing that she was auditoning for Sultan and says, ''Jabtak main Ali se nahi mili, mujhe pata bhi nahi tha ke Sultan ki baat horahi hai. Because YRF mein they do not give you the actual script. They give you another script and make you audition on that. It was only when I met Ali and he would keep saying 'Mr.Khan,' I realised ki 'Oh!'''

''After the whole process when I did not get it, it was very heartbreaking. Ek toh I am dusky, and I am very proud of it and dusra, I am not a typical YRF heroine. I did not have the most shapy legs and stuff. Woh shorts and all mein bhi pictures bhejni thi. Shanoo would always be there checking each and everything. So when I was sending pictures, I said, 'Shanoo you know pictures toh main bhej rahi hoon but I do not have the best legs.' You know what she said? I thought wo bolegi ke, 'actor ban ne kyun aayi ho? kyun nahi kaam kar rahi ho apne aap par? She said, 'It is not your problem. They are taking you on board na? It is their problem. They will make you in perfect shape, they will work on you, it is their problem. And that just made me feel ke wow, I can be myself,'' the actress further says.

Anupriya then goes ahead to reveal how she got a call from YRK casting director Shanoo Sharma, who then asked the actress to come and meet her and then gave her the news that she was not selected for the role. ''She gave me a compliment and said that Adi sir saw a take of mine and said isse better ye scene koi nahi kar sakta tha. But then she also said ke ye nahi hoga. But keep us posted on what you are doing next and keep in touch,'' says the Padmavaat fame.
