Jhanak actress auditioned for Dayaben's role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah?

SAB TV’s popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been making headlines frequently, especially regarding the return of the beloved character Dayaben. Ever since Disha Vakani, who played the iconic role, went on maternity leave in 2018 and did not return, the search for a new Dayaben has been ongoing.

Now, as per reports by News18, it seems the makers may have found someone whom producer Asit Modi considers a good fit for the role. According to media reports, Jhanak actress Kajal Pisal also auditioned for Dayaben’s role.

Speaking to ETimes TV, Kajal revealed that after her audition, she waited for a call from the makers but never received one. This made her realize that the role did not work out for her.

Kajal Pisal became a household name with her role as Ishika Kapoor in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, starring Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. She has also been part of several popular shows, including Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, and is currently seen in Jhanak.

Earlier this year, Asit Modi confirmed that Disha Vakani is unlikely to return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as she is focused on her family, particularly raising her two children.

'I am still trying, but I believe Disha Vakani may not return. She has two kids and is deeply involved in her family life. She is like a sister to me, and we continue to share a close bond with her family. Over the years, her father and brother have also become like family to me. When you work together for 17 years, these relationships naturally become an extension of your own family,'he said.

Acknowledging the challenges she faces, he added, 'Marriage brings changes, especially for women. Managing work, small children, and household responsibilities can be difficult. But I remain hopeful. If she returns, it will be wonderful. If not, I will have to introduce a new Dayaben to the show.'
