Shooting at Ladakh itself is a daunting task. And the team of 3 Idiots is having to bear quite a lot of trouble. For the past many days they had been shooting there in various locations like the where there was no network connection and no hotels. They also went for shooting in a place called , which is popular among thegeologists. This place is more than 13900 ft above sea level, hence, you can understand that the hardships were more than the experience. If you think no network and no hotels are difficult, then, how about no electricity and no oxygen and no hot water!?
The cast of "3 Idiots" while shooting in experienced the dearth of oxygen and the freezing temperature was pretty unnerving. Kareena Kapoor, the only female cast present in had quite an overwhelming time there. Sources say that she was shooting there wearing a wedding ghagra choli. The thermal undergarments were no respite for the low temperatures and the on top of that the low oxygen made her as well as the whole production team breathless. But still they braved the cold and wheezing and shot and canned the scenes required and returned home this Monday, without any casualties.
Kudos to the team of "3 Idiots". And kudos to Kareena for daring the extreme conditions of Ladakh. When asked how could she remain fit in those circumstances, she pipes "It's tough working in extreme climactic conditions. Fortunately, I am surviving because of my yoga and diet, which I change according to the climate of the area where I shoot." That's interesting. So, what was her diet like? According to Kareena's nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar, she was on a Ladakhi diet, consisting of Thukpa (that is noodle soup in the Tibetan language), goat cheese, momos and Leh berries which are "made from the juice of seabuckthorn, which are rich anti-oxidants and good fat burners". Kareena also had Ladakhi butter tea many times a day to keep herself from getting dehydrated.
Well, now you know, if you ever go to Ladakh for hiking, trekking or even site seeing, keep all the normal burgers and pizzas and chiwraas at home.
