"Jaat", the action-packed thriller starring Sunny Deol, continues to make its mark at the box office. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film, released on April 10th, garnered a commendable Rs 4 crore on its seventh day, bringing its total one-week earnings to Rs 57.25 crore net in India, as per sacnilk.com. Early projections indicate that the film is poised for a strong showing on the second Thursday, despite the absence of holiday discounts or special movie offers.
The film enjoyed a steady performance during its initial week, with noteworthy double-digit collections over the weekends. On its first Sunday, "Jaat" achieved a remarkable Rs 14 crore net in India, marking its highest box office figure to date. The film resonated particularly well in regions such as Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Central India.
However, following its first week, attention is now focused on the potential impact of the highly anticipated courtroom drama "Kesari Chapter 2", starring Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan, which is expected to open with a strong Rs 7 to Rs 10 crore.
The upcoming Good Friday weekend could provide a significant boost to the box office performance of both "Jaat" and "Kesari Chapter 2", thanks to the gazetted holiday.
Beyond Sunny Deol, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Randeep Hooda, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Vineet Kumar Singh, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, P. Ravi Shankar, and Babloo Prithiveeraj.
The film's plot centers around Brigadier Baldev Pratap Singh (played by Sunny Deol), known as "Jaat", who finds himself entangled in a conflict with Ranatunga (played by Randeep Hooda), also known as Muthuvel Karikalan, the former Deputy Commander of the Jaffna Tiger Force, after an unexpected arrival in a village near Chirala.
As Jaat becomes immersed in the community, he witnesses the terror and suffering that have become deeply rooted in the lives of its residents. He refuses to remain passive and takes decisive action against the oppressive regime. What follows is a thrilling confrontation between the virtuous brigadier and the ruthless warlord.
Beyond "Jaat", Sunny Deol has several promising projects in his pipeline, including "Lahore 1947" alongside Preity Zinta, and "Border 2" featuring Varun Dhawan, Ahaan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh.
