SSMB29: SS Rajamouli’s Grand Odisha Set Goes Viral Before Second Schedule

SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus SSMB29, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema. While the makers have kept details under wraps, recent leaks have given fans a sneak peek into the film’s grand scale. A massive set in Odisha’s Koraput district has gone viral, confirming that the second shooting schedule is underway.

A fan-shared video revealed a gigantic film set constructed on the Talamali hilltop, surrounded by lush greenery and hills. Since SSMB29 is rumored to have an African jungle backdrop, this location seems perfect for Rajamouli’s adventurous vision. The viral clip has further heightened fan excitement.

Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran were spotted at Hyderabad airport before flying to Odisha for filming. Their arrival was widely circulated online, confirming that shooting has begun. Earlier, on March 5, another set glimpse from Hyderabad was leaked, resembling Varanasi ghats and temples. This sparked speculation that a part of the film may be set in Varanasi.

After much speculation, it’s confirmed that Priyanka Chopra is returning to Bollywood with SSMB29. Her last Indian film was The Sky Is Pink (2019). In Rajamouli’s film, she plays the main antagonist. Priyanka has already shot sequences in Hyderabad’s Aluminium Factory and will soon head to Europe for a 15-20 day schedule.

The film is being made on a ?900-1000 crore budget, making it one of India’s costliest productions. Reports suggest its story is inspired by Wilbur Smith’s adventure novels, known for high-stakes missions, thrilling action, and terrorism battles. The film will feature exotic shooting locations, including Kenya’s forests and Africa’s wilderness, adding a fresh cinematic experience.

Rajamouli is considering two titles—Garuda and Maharaj, with the latter being the stronger choice. However, an official announcement is awaited. With its grand sets, star-studded cast, and Rajamouli’s vision, SSMB29 is shaping up as a cinematic spectacle!
