SSMB 29: SS Rajamouli and team recreate Varanasi in Ramoji Film City on a whopping budget; join elite list

After the global success of RRR, everyone is waiting for SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s SSMB29. It is also the comeback movie of Priyanka Chopra in Indian films. She is supposed to be playing a grey character. Now, reports have come that a set worth Rs 50 crore has been constructed in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The set is of the city of Kashi in Varanasi. The team avoided shooting in the actual city and instead made a set that would suit the requirements for celluloid. There is a big connection with Indian mythology in SSMB29 and Kashi is part of that.

The set will have riverfront, ghats and temples making it look mythical and stunning for the screen. In the past, we have seen SS Rajamouli create the world of Mahishmathi in the Baahubali movies. The set was priced at Rs 18 crores. Other movies with expensive sets are Thugs Of Hindostan (Rs 20 crores) and Heeramandi (Rs 20 crores). The filmmaker has shot a portion in the jungles of Odisha. SS Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra will soon head to Europe for a mammoth schedule of SSMB 29. The shoot began in the month of April 2025 at the Aluminium Factory.

Mahesh Babu is playing a character inspired by Lord Hanuman in the movie. There were reports of how the team is planning to even shoot in the jungles of Africa. It seems a huge action sequence was planned in Kenya. Well, we are hearing a lot of exciting things about SSMB29 every passing day.

There are many rumours around the film. We had even read that SS Rajamouli was planning to bring Jenna Ortega on board. Today, we read that a top Hollywood actor might do a cameo in SSMB29. The name of Chris Hemsworth is doing the rounds as well. We will get a big announcement on the birthday of Mahesh Babu.
