On Thursday, actor Sonu Sood took to social media to share a special message on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. He appealed his fans to celebrate the festival by helping others rather than forwarding images of Lord Shiva.

"Rather than forwarding Lord Shiva's images, celebrate Maha Shivratri by helping someone in need. Om Namah Shivaay," he tweeted in Hindi.

While Sonu Sood’s message was in good spirit, it did not go down well with some people on the Internet. Netizens attacked the actor and “#WhoTheHellAreUSonuSood” is currently trending on Twitter for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

We all know how to celebrate  our festival don't  tell us. Always there is problem in hindus festival but celebrate all other religion festivals without any problem. Why why why why. #WhoTheHellAreUSonuSood” wrote an user, while another tweeted: “Gyan on Hindu Festivals. Simple wishes on Eid/ Christmas. Why this hypocrisy @SonuSood #WhoTheHellAreUSonuSood”

Sonu Sood came on the forefront to help hundreds of migrant workers during the lockdown. He also emerged as a messiah for farmers and the underprivileged suffering because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

However, Sood often becomes the target of trolls on social media.
