Sonu Sood under fire as police investigation launched for riding a bike without a helmet

Actor Sonu Sood has landed in trouble. A video shows him riding a motorcycle in Spiti Valley without safety gear, sparking controversy. The viral video shows Sonu Sood riding shirtless on snow-covered Spiti roads, wearing only shorts and sunglasses. Shared by a local Instagram page with the caption, "Yeh Spiti hai… yahan sirf asli log chalte hain," the clip has sparked controversy. Although he wore a helmet at other times during the trip, the shirtless, gearless ride drew the most attention and criticism.

Social media users quickly voiced their disapproval. One commenter stated, "Sir, you are setting a bad example by riding without a helmet." Another wrote, "Celebrities shouldn't behave like this." Directing their concerns, another user tweeted to Himachal Pradesh authorities, asking, "Action should be taken against them."

The controversy escalated, drawing the attention of local law enforcement. The Lahaul-Spiti police publicly addressed the viral video on X (formerly Twitter), confirming an ongoing investigation. The statement read, “A video is going viral on social media in which a Bollywood actor is seen violating traffic rules in Lahaul-Spiti district. According to preliminary information, the video appears to be from the year 2023. The task of investigating the authenticity has been handed over to DySP Headquarters, Kyelang."

They added, “Whatever necessary action is required as per the law, it will be taken by the district police. District Police Lahaul-Spiti appeals to all citizens and tourists to follow traffic rules and adopt disciplined and responsible behaviour."

The controversy gained further traction, given Sood's recent involvement in a road safety campaign where he advocated for helmet use and adherence to traffic regulations. The perceived hypocrisy has led to widespread disappointment.

The Spiti Valley administration's commitment to legal action suggests that the issue will be addressed formally, though Sood has yet to issue a public statement.
