After soaking in the success of Tanhaji, Saif Ali Khan is onto his next titled Jawaani Jaaneman. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the comedy-drama also stars Tabu and marks the debut of Alaya F, daughter of Pooja Bedi.
The trailer dropped a week ago, which shows a story of a 40-year-old carefree hunk, played by Saif, who suddenly comes across his daughter, played by Alaya in the film. It is a comic tale of a quirky relationship between a daughter-father.
Interestingly, Sara was first offered to play Saif’s on-screen daughter in Jawaani Jaaneman, revealed the actor himself. It would be the first time the real-life father-daughter duo could be seen sharing screen space together, however, things didn't work out that way.
Spilling more details, Saif told Pinkvilla: "Yes, what had happened was that Kedarnath had almost been shelved and Sara didn't have another movie. So this film was around and being the knight in shining armour and a good daddy, I asked her if she would like to do this. She had said yes."
However, later Kedarnath happened, post which Sara had Simmba and Coolie No.1, and thus Saif advised her to not do the film co-starring him.
"Kedarnath came back on track and then, Simmba also fell in place. I only told her then that listen Sara, don't do this film. This was a backup for you. I think I could have done it with someone else but she should be working with Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan next. She said she would like to do that. I wouldn't want her to do a film just because it's me. It gets really complicated when it's about family” Saif further added.
In fact, this isn’t the first time they have been approached for a film together, as Saif revealed: "We have got at least three to five movie offers together. Sometimes, she didn't like the script, sometimes, I felt I am not interested."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Sara will be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in Love Aaj Kal, which is the second installment of Imtiaz Ali’s 2009 film of the same name, starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.
